  09/07 WEEK 1 SUN BELT OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Deuce Bailey, Coastal Carolina, (RS Fr., QB - Bowling Green, Ky.),...Chanticleers redshirt freshman quarterback Deuce Bailey threw for 373 yards-tied for the most by a Coastal Carolina quarterback in the program's FBS era­-in a 31-24 one-possession loss to West Virginia. The Bowling Green, Ky., native completed 21-of-37 passes and rushed for 19 yards to amass 392 yards of total offense in his Coastal Carolina debut. After trailing 24-0 at the half, Bailey threw for three second-half touchdowns to outscore the Mountaineers 24-7 over the final two quarters and pull the Chanticleers within a score in the closing minute. - Sun Belt Football

  WEEK 13 CONFERENCE USA FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK: Clayton Coppock, Kennesaw State - Fr. - WR - Atlanta, Ga.,...Coppock turned in a key performance in the 41-34 win over Missouri State with career highs in receiving yards (87) and touchdowns (2) while failing to record a drop. He has now caught a touchdown pass in three-straight games.   WEEK 12 FCS NATIONAL TEAM OF THE WEEK: Lafayette (35-28 win at Richmond),...Kente Edwards rushed for 265 yards and two touchdowns (61 and 70 yards) and Dean DeNobile threw two of his three scoring passes to Nick Bierman as Lafayette won 35-28 at Richmond in the Patriot League. Ryan Gadson had nine tackles and five pass breakups to fuel the defense. Coach John Troxell's 8-3 squad next hosts rival Lehigh on Saturday for the PL title and an automatic FCS playoff bid.   Kente Edwards ran for 265 yards that included a 70-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to help Lafayette pull away and beat Richmond 35-28 on Saturday. Edwards burst up the middle and then ran untouched along the right sideline to cap the scoring with 6:09 to play. Edwards also had a 61-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter and finished with 26 carries.

Dean DeNobile was 14-of-25 passing and threw three touchdown passes and an interception for Lafayette (8-3, 6-0 Patriot League). Carson Persing caught six passes for 93 yards and a touchdown for the FCS 25th-ranked Leopards. Nick Bierman had two touchdown catches and finished with 52 yards receiving. Kyle Wickersham accounted for three touchdowns for Richmond (6-4, 3-3). He completed 20 of 35 passes for 234 yards, threw two touchdown passes and an interception and had short-yardage touchdown run.   Kente Edwards ran for a career-high 260 yards, Dean DeNobile threw four touchdown passes, and Lafayette defeated Colgate 59-42 on Saturday to remain undefeated in the Patriot League. Edwards, a junior who had only 110 yards in his first two seasons, topped his previous high of 255 yards against Georgetown in September. He has 1,032 yards with two regular season games remaining. Lafayette (7-3, 5-0) scored 24 points in the second quarter after being tied at 14 early in the period. The Leopards led 38-21 at halftime after DeNobile threw two TD passes and Edwards ran for another touchdown in the second quarter.

The Raiders got within 38-28 in the third quarter but DeNobile hit Mason Kuehner with a 19-yard touchdown pass to close out the period and Edwards' 49-yard touchdown run made it 52-28 early in the fourth. DeNobile was 18-for-29 passing for 206 yards and backup QB Daniel Lipovski threw a 26-yard touchdown pass for a team total of 232 passing yards. The Leopards totaled 301 yards rushing and outgained Colgate 533-436. Jake Stearney threw three touchdown passes and Jackson Kilburg, who completed 9 of 10 passes, had two TD throws for Colgate. Matt Fogler caught three touchdown passes. Lafayette and Lehigh are tied for first place in the Patriot League. Lafayette hosts Lehigh in two weeks. - AP College Football

  Kente Edwards scored two rushing touchdowns and led a 217-yard rushing performance from the Lafayette offense in a 21-13 win over Holy Cross on Saturday. Edwards opened and closed the scoring on a day he had 146 rushing yards on 28 carries. He scored for the Leopards (6-4, 4-0 Patriot League) at the end of the first quarter with a a 10-yard rush, then added his second with 2:49 remaining in the fourth quarter. Holy Cross (1-8, 1-3) took a 13-7 lead in the third quarter when Max Mosey returned a punt 59 yards for a touchdown. Ethan Weber retook the lead for the Leopards with a 1-yard score late in the third quarter. He played an effective backup role with 67 rushing yards. Jayden Clerveaux led the Crusaders' offense with 135 yards on the ground. Dominic Campanile was 17-of-22 passing for 127 yards with an interception. - Lafayette/AP College Football

  WEEK 8 MISSOURI VALLEY DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: S Jalen Lee, South Dakota State, 6-0, 200, Jr., Wentzville, Mo.,...Lee ended two Murray State scoring chances with interceptions inside the 20-yard line in South Dakota State's 35-14 road win on Oct. 18. His first interception came at the SDSU 18 on the opening drive of the game while later adding an interception at the Jackrabbit 15 in the fourth quarter.   Dominic Knicely's 1-yard plunge with 3:19 remaining gave Coastal Carolina its first lead of the game in a 45-37 win over Appalachian State on Saturday. Jaden Barnes' 77-yard punt return staked the Mountaineers (4-3, 1-2 Sun Belt) to a 31-17 lead early in the second half. Samari Collier's 6-yard TD and his 37-yard TD pass to Jameson Tucker at the end of the third quarter cut into the deficit before Knicely finished the 13-play, 75-yard drive with the go-ahead points.

The Mountaineers turned the ball over on downs at their own 27 and Coastal Carolina (4-3, 3-1) added Jevon Edwards' 8-yard TD run to cap its 28-point second half. The Mountaineers' final possession ended on Noah Arinze's fumble recovery after JJ Kohl was sacked. Collier rushed for a game-high 74 yards and two scores. He passed for 118 yards with an interception. MJ Morris also threw a TD pass. Kohl was 27 of 41 for 278 yards passing and two touchdowns for the Mountaineers.   WEEK 7 CONFERENCE USA FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK: Deuce Bailey, Missouri State - Fr. - QB - Bowling Green, Ky.,...In his first career start, Bailey went the distance to lead the Bears (3-3, 1-1 CUSA) to a come-from-behind victory at MTSU. He engineered a game-winning 10-play, 56-yard drive late in the fourth quarter that consumed nearly five minutes and culminated in the winning field goal with just over four minutes to play. Bailey also produced four consecutive scoring drives during a key stretch in the second and third quarters that elevated the Bears to leads at halftime and going into the fourth quarter. He finished the night 16-31 passing for 278 yards, no interceptions and a TD along with a five-yard rushing touchdown (the first of his career). - Conference USA Football

  Freshman Deuce Bailey threw for 278 yards and a touchdown, and he added a touchdown on the ground in his first career start as Missouri State beat Middle Tennessee 22-20 on Wednesday night for the program's first Conference USA victory. Missouri State (3-3, 1-1) is in its inaugural season in the FBS after finishing 8-4 in the Missouri Valley Football Conference last year. Missouri State capped the scoring on Yousef Obeid's third field goal with 4:22 remaining in the fourth quarter. Middle Tennessee responded with a nine-play, 44-yard drive, ending in Jacob Hathaway's 50-yard field goal attempt that was wide left. Obeid also made a 25-yard field goal on the first drive of the second half for a 19-13 lead.

Middle Tennessee (1-5, 0-2) has lost five straight home games dating to last season. Nicholas Vattiato was 30 of 42 for 267 yards and two touchdowns for MTSU. Jekail Middlebrook had 93 yards on the ground and Cam'ron Lacy caught six passes for 114 yards and two scores. Middle Tennessee took a 10-6 lead on a 52-yard touchdown reception by Lacy. But Missouri State answered with a 10-play, 79-yard drive, capped by Ronnel Johnson's 20-yard grab. The two teams last met on Oct. 18, 1986 when the Bears were called Southwest Missouri State.
