  2022 ALL-SIAC CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM: LB Jalil Lenore, Central State, R-Freshman, Chicago, IL,...Lenore led the SIAC and ranked fifth in NCAA Div. II in tackles with 113. In his first game as a Marauder, Lenore earned the Defensive MVP in the Black College Football Hall of Fame Classic. The 6-2, freshman linebacker from Chicago, Illinois, went on to record 10 or more tackles in nine of ten games. Lenore also recorded two sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, two interceptions, two defensive touchdowns and two blocked kicks. - Central State Football

  Andrew Body threw two touchdown passes - including a 65-yarder to AJ Bennett - and Texas Southern breezed to a 41-7 victory over Grambling on Saturday night. LaDarius Owens gave Texas Southern (5-5, 4-3 Southwestern Athletic Conference) a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter on a 1-yard scoring run. Freshman Julian Calvez fired a 37-yard scoring strike to Joshua Johnson four minutes later to pull Grambling (3-7, 2-5) even.

Body needed just 1:48 to march 54 yards, hitting Tavaris Achane for a 15-yard touchdown with 23 seconds left in the period. Body's long touchdown pass to Bennett was the only score of the second quarter and the Tigers took a 21-7 lead into intermission. Isaiah Hamilton picked off a Quaterius Hawkins pass and returned it 12 yards for a score and Kevin Harris added a 1-yard touchdown run with five seconds left in the third quarter to put Texas Southern up 33-7. Daveon Ford scored from a yard out on a fourth-quarter run to end the scoring. Body completed 13 of 20 passes for 190 yards. Owens carried 13 times for 105 yards.   NOV 7 SWAC SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK: Alabama State's Santo Dunn helped Alabama State's special teams unit account for 20 of the Hornets 37 points against Bethune-Cookman this past weekend. He contributed 137 combined return yards. Dunn returned two punts for 95 yards, including a 70-yard return for a touchdown that gave the Hornets a 20-16 lead in the third quarter. - SWAC Football

  Andrew Body threw a pair of touchdown passes and Texas Southern cruised past Division III-member Lincoln University of California, 37-2 on Saturday. Texas Southern kept the Oaklanders out of the end zone, allowing only a first-quarter safety. The Tigers allowed Lincoln (1-7) just 45 passing yards, while Elijah Holmes carried 18 times for 95 yards and Otis Weah carried 19 times for 90. Body completed 10 of 21 passes for 177 yards.   Freshman Chaunzavia Lewis gave Texas Southern the lead with a 73-yard touchdown on a punt return, Raheme Fuller scored on a 45-yard pick-6 and the Tigers turned back Alcorn State 34-27 on Saturday. Texas Southern (3-4, 3-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference) took a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter on Andrew Body's 18-yard touchdown pass to AJ Bennett. Aaron Allen fired a 65-yard scoring strike to Monterio Hunt, but Noah Kiani missed the point-after kick and Alcorn State (3-4, 2-2) trailed 7-6. The Braves took a 13-7 lead when Allen connected with Juan Anthony Jr. for a 62-yard touchdown, but Fuller intercepted Allen and raced to the end zone with 38 seconds left before halftime to put the Tigers up 14-13.

Alcorn State took a 20-14 lead on its first possession of the second half when Jarveon Howard scored on a 34-yard run. Texas Southern cut its deficit to three on a 37-yard field goal by Curtis Falkenburg midway through the quarter. Lewis followed with his punt-return score 1:39 later and the Tigers never trailed again. Body completed 11 of 18 passes for 85 yards with an interception for Texas Southern. He also led the Tigers with 86 rushing yards on 21 carries. Allen completed 22 of 34 passes for 282 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions for Alcorn State.   Santo Dunn rushed for 101 yards, Ja'Won Howell scored the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter, and Alabama State rallied past Texas Southern, defeating the Tigers 16-13 on Saturday night. After Brandon Gaddy forced a fumble that was recovered by Demaruez Bellamy, the Hornets took possession at the Texas Southern 39-yard line with 11:38 remaining in the game. Howell's 2-yard scoring run finished off a six-play drive, resulting in the 16-13 lead.

The Hornets (3-2, 1-1 SWAC) trailed 13-6 entering the final period but rallied on a 42-yard field goal by Nathanial Eichner followed by Howell's short TD run. Eichner earlier kicked field goals of 27 and 31 yards and was 3-for-3 on the day. Texas Southern (1-4, 1-2) was outgained 329-238 but built its lead on short touchdown runs by Jacorey Howard and Andrew Body. Body's 9-yard touchdown pass to AJ Bennett capped a 10-play, 65-yard game-opening drive for Texas Southern (1-2, 1-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference). LaDarius Owens added a 1-yard TD run late in the first quarter, and Body threw a 53-yard score to Derek Morton just before halftime. Body completed 16 of 22 passes for 186 yards. Morton made four catches for 91 yards. Besean McCray was 18-of-30 passing with three interceptions for Southern (1-2, 0-1).   Andrew Body threw four touchdown passes and ran for a fifth score, leading Texas Southern to a 59-17 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday. After Arkansas-Pine Bluff took a 3-0 lead early in the first quarter, Body threw four touchdown passes before halftime as the Tigers (2-5, 2-3 SWAC) took a 28-3 lead at the break. In the second half, Body and Jacorey Howard had short touchdown runs and backup QB Jalen Brown threw two TD passes on his only attempts of the game. They were the freshman's first career TDs in 67 pass attempts. Body completed 16 of 25 passes for 271 yards and was not intercepted. He carried 16 times for 121 rushing yards. For the Golden Lions (1-7, 0-5), Skyler Perry completed 25 of 37 passes for 311 yards. His one TD throw went to Trey Harrell, who had eight catches for 126 yards.   Ryan Nettles threw a pair of first-quarter touchdown passes and Jacory Merritt had two short scoring runs in the second period as Alabama State breezed to a 38-24 victory over Bethune-Cookman in its Southwestern Athletic Conference opener on Saturday. Nettles fired a 12-yard TD to Wallace Corker to open the scoring for the Hornets (2-1, 1-0) and, after Jimmie Robinson III scored on a 4-yard run to pull the Wildcats even, connected with Jeremiah Hixson for a 20-yard TD and a lead they never relinquished. Merritt scored on a 1-yard run on the first play of the second quarter to push Alabama State's lead to 21-7. A field goal and Robinson's second TD run pulled the Wildcats (0-4, 0-2) within 21-17, but Merritt again ran it in from a yard out and the Hornets took a 11-point lead into halftime. Ezra Gray stretched Alabama State's lead to 35-17 with a 2-yard TD run in the third quarter. Alabama State travels to play Florida A&M on Saturday, while Bethune-Cookman heads to South Carolina State on Saturday in search of its first win of the season. - AP College Football
