  2025 SWAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Andrew Body, Alabama State,...Body completed 113-of-160 passes for 1,770 yards with 20 touchdowns and only one interception. He also rushed 71 times for 518 yards (5th SWAC) and four touchdowns before sitting out the final four games with an injury. Body was named the SWAC's Offensive Player of the Week three times and earned HBCU National Player of the Week twice. The Corpus Christi, Texas, native led the SWAC in touchdown passes (20) and points responsible for (144) while ranking second in completion percentage (70.5). Body led a prolific offense that led or ranked second in the he SWAC in 13 categories while ranking in the top 12 in the FCS in seven categories. Alabama State wrapped up a 10-2 season with a 58-21 win over Tuskegee University in the 101st Turkey Day Classic. The 10-win season is the first since 2004. - SWAC Football

  Te'Sean Smoot threw for 422 yards and four touchdowns, with 189 yards going to Jalen Jones, and Alabama State beat Tuskegee 58-21 on Thursday in the 101st Turkey Day Classic. Alabama State (10-2) finished co-champions of the SWAC East Division, but Jackson State advanced to the conference championship game after earning the tiebreaker over the Hornets. Alabama State recorded 10 wins for the first time since 2004, when the Hornets last won the SWAC title. Alabama State scored 44 straight point spanning the halftime break. Smoot started the second-quarter scoring with an 11-yard touchdown pass to Dylan Creech for a tie at 21. Then the Hornets scored 17 points in the final five minutes of the half, including a 42-yard pick-six by Ta'Shaun Sims - his second of the game. Sims' first interception came deep in Alabama State territory, and the Hornets went on a 10-play, 82-yard drive ending in a 6-yard touchdown run by Marcus Harris II.

Alabama State opened the second half with a three-play, 75-yard drive ending in Smoot's 12-yard touchdown pass to Derick Harden. Smoot added a 13-yard touchdown pass to Manny Thompson on the Hornets' second drive after halftime. Michael Franklin was 12 of 29 for 208 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions for Tuskegee (4-7). Zina Mulbah II had two touchdowns on the ground. Devon Cooper had a 67-yard touchdown reception. Tuskegee played for the first since defeating Miles College 24-23 on Nov. 8. - AP College Football

  Te'Sean Smoot threw for 271 yards and four touchdowns to four different receivers, Marcus Harris II added a 50-yard touchdown run and Alabama State beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff 44-13 on Saturday night to begin a two-game homestand to close out the regular season. Alabama State (9-2, 7-1 SWAC) needed win and to have Jackson State lose on Saturday to host the conference championship game on Dec. 6. But the Tigers spoiled the party with a 27-21 victory over Alcorn State. UAPB scored on the opening drive of the game but did not add to its total until 2:50 remaining in the third quarter to get within 30-13.

Smoot responded with two touchdown passes in the fourth, a 10-yarder to Manny Thompson and a 26-yarder to Asa Gregg. Andrew Abu-Akel made field goals of 24, 33 and 43 yards for Alabama State, which was coming off a 41-3 win over Mississippi Valley State. Jaylen Jennings led Arkansas-Pine Bluff (3-8, 2-6) with 133 yards rushing and a touchdown in a season finale. Alabama reached nine wins for the second time in program history, joining the 1935 team.   Jamarie Hostzclaw had two touchdown runs in the first half and Alabama State cruised to a 41-3 victory over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday night for its fourth straight win. The victory keeps Alabama State (8-2, 6-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference) tied with Jackson State atop the SWAC's East Division. The Hornets also have their first eight-win season since 2018. Hostzclaw scored on runs of 9 and 31 yards to give Alabama State a 13-0 lead at the break. The Hornets scored 28 points in the third quarter, 21 from three Mississippi Valley State turnovers.   Marcus Harris II had three touchdown runs to lead Alabama State to a 42-24 victory over Texas Southern on Saturday night. Harris' 13-yard touchdown run gave Alabama State (7-2, 5-1 Southwestern Conference) a 21-17 lead midway through the second quarter. He then scored on 3-yard runs to cap back-to-back drives to give the Hornets 35-24 lead with 10:46 remaining. Ta'Shaun Sims capped the scoring late in the fourth with a 75-yard touchdown return from a blocked field-goal attempt.

Te'Sean Smoot threw an 87-yard touchdown pass to Jalen Jones on the Hornets' first play from scrimmage. Nehemiah Hixon had a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the second quarter. Smoot completed 9 of 13 passes for 215 yards. Jones finished with 148 yards receiving on three receptions. Harris had four carries for 21 yards rushing. KJ Cooper was 25-of-35 passing for 220 yards and threw a pair of touchdown passes for Texas Southern (4-5, 3-3).   Marcus Harris II had two rushing touchdowns, Jamarie Hostzclaw ran for 127 yards, and Deontre Morris had two interceptions in a 31-28 win for Alabama State over Prairie View A&M on Saturday. Prairie View's Cameron Peters had 106 rushing yards, and threw for 189 yards and three passing touchdowns, but was intercepted four times over the span of five drives between the second and third quarters. Two of those drives turned into a field goal and a second touchdown from Harris, which made it 24 unanswered points for the Hornets (6-2, 4-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference). Detrick Jones and Drake Johnson also had interceptions.

The Panthers (6-3, 4-1 SWAC) had an opportunity to tie the game on the final drive, but Denzel Johnson tackled Rodny Ojo in the backfield for a loss of 5. It set up a 53-yard missed field goal by Diego Alfaro. Chase Bingmon led the Panthers with 118 rushing yards and a touchdown. Alabama State quarterback Andrew Body suffered an injury to his right arm after extending the ball over the goal line for his second rushing touchdown of the day with 5:50 left in the first half.   Andrew Body accounted for six total touchdowns and Alabama State as a team ran for just more than 300 yards and the Hornets crushed Alabama A&M 56-13 on Saturday. Body completed 19 of 24 passes for 304 yards and threw all his touchdowns before halftime. Body, who also ran for 66 yards on seven carries, scored a 4-yard rushing touchdown with 1:52 left before halftime to make it a 42-6 lead. Body threw 5- and 16-yard touchdowns to Dylan Creech, two more covering 17 and 8 yards to Marcus Harris II and an 18-yarder to Dylan Djete in succession for a 35-6 advantage.

Following his rushing touchdown, Body threw a 59-yard score to Jalen Jones with 29 seconds remaining before halftime. Jones finished with 101 yards receiving on seven catches. Jahbari Kuykendall led the Hornets (5-2, 3-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference) rushing attack with 101 yards on seven carries and a touchdown. Alabama State ran it 40 times for 303 yards. JD Davis II threw for 88 yards and a touchdown and Maurice Edwards IV ran for a score for Alabama A&M (4-4, 1-3). - AP College Football
