Tennessee football's offensive depth took a hit on Tuesday. Sophomore wide receiver Malachi Wideman is no longer part of the program, a UT spokesman confirmed with Knox News. Wideman appeared in six games in 2020, catching one pass from quarterback Harrison Bailey for 24 yards in a 34-7 loss to Kentucky. He will have four years of eligibility remaining with the potential for a redshirt. The Venice, Florida, native signed with Tennessee in 2020 and was the Vols' highest-rated receiver in the class. Earning a four-star rating in the 247Sports Composite, he was the No. 117 overall player in the nation. He outranked fellow 2020 signees Jalin Hyatt, Jimmy Calloway and Jimmy Holiday, though Hyatt made more of an immediate impact. - Knoxville News Sentinel
