The current Ole Miss receiver most likely to follow after Metcalf and Brown is junior Elijah Moore. A native Floridian rather than Mississippian, Moore has put up video game numbers for Ole Miss this season. Moore leads all Power 5 receivers in receptions (61), receiving yards (829), catches per game (10.1) and yards per game (138.2). He's on pace to break Brown's Ole Miss single-season receiving records in a pandemic-shortened season and could break the NCAA record for catches per game. Moore was a freshman when Metcalf and Brown were juniors. He's taking the lessons he learned from them and translating those lessons to the receivers younger than him. "I just feel like it's the competitive aspect whenever you get on the field," Moore said. "Even after practice with these guys, we're really competing every day. Day-in and day-out it's a competition. Competing against the best is going to bring out the best in you."

Recruiting rankings seem to indicate Metcalf and Brown weren't outliers. Six of the 11 highest rated Mississippi high school players in the 247Sports composite rankings for the Class of 2021 are receivers. Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin says he doesn't use Brown and Metcalf directly as recruiting tools. He likes to sell recruits on players he coached, not players from previous regimes at his new school. That said, he said he knows having Brown and Metcalf as examples of in-state recruits turning Ole Miss tenures into ascendant NFL careers will help attract the best prospects Mississippi has to offer. "Maybe there's a little bit more when you're recruiting an in-state player," Kiffin said. "Here's a great player that stayed home. It just gives them an example of 'Hey, you don't have to go to Georgia or Alabama or LSU. You can stay right here.' It's been done before." - The Clarion Ledger
