The 6-foot, 205-pound Bell is a Bonita Vista High graduate who joined the team a year ago after transferring from Nebraska, but he missed the 2019 season following a freak eye injury suffered during a preseason, off-campus workout. "He will be an impact," Hoke said. "His work ethic during this whole COVID pandemic, he would send me video of himself working out all the time. "When you look at him physically and all those things, we're excited what he's going to bring to the table and bring to us."

Bell has 10-35 pounds more on his frame than the other backs. In addition to his abilities as a rusher, Bell also has impressed Hoke with his pass-catching and blocking skills. "I preface all of this, we haven't gotten to inside drill and all that stuff kind of stuff yet," Hoke said, adding, "Whoever that (starter) is, you want to have one (workhorse). But you want to be able to have enough other guys who can do special things...For us, it's an advantage to have a group of guys like we have because they bring that." - San Diego Union Tribune
