Rutgers will not permit any in-person classes or events until at least mid-August due to the coronavirus pandemic, but the university has not yet ruled out opening campus for the football team and other fall sports programs to hold preseason practices. The moratorium does mean teams will not be able to return for summer workouts prior to the start of the preseason. It will also prevent programs from holding summer camps and recruiting evaluation events. "There will be no in-person classes, programs, camps, conferences or other activities at Rutgers University through at least August 14," according to a letter from senior vice president of academic affairs Barbara Lee. "Information related to fall orientations and intercollegiate preseason athletic activity will be forthcoming." Football training camp typically opens in late July or early August. - Star Ledger
