  10/28/20 - P Charlie ScottrSr/2022, Alabama, 6-1, 195 (DS#999 P) + More +

A graduate transfer with a familiar last name made his Alabama debut Saturday in Knoxville. Charlie Scott, the brother of former Alabama star JK Scott, got his first start as the punter against Tennessee. The former Air Force specialist was called upon just twice as the Crimson Tide offense remained hot in a 48-17 win over the Vols. The younger Scott replaced freshman Sam Johnson who punted 10 times for a 35.4-yard average in the first four games. The two Scott punts in Knoxville came on short fields and both ended with fair catches inside the 20. "Well I thought Charlie did a good job. Charlie punts the ball high. He's a little more consistent the last couple of weeks. He got here late. He wasn't here all summer he wasn't here for part of camp. So he's just sort of getting back into his rhythm, but I thought he did a nice job for us." The first punt, a 41-yarder, was caught at the Alabama 9-yard line while his second traveled 28 yards to the 18. Saban likes the speed with which Scott punts the ball. "We just weren't getting the kind of consistency in performance that we needed," Saban said. "Now there's a lot of things that go with punting. And it's how fast you get it off. It's how much hang time you have, and can you put it in the right spots where I have the best opportunity to cover. And I think we got that done tonight." - Birmingham News
