With four of the five starting spots along Michigan's offensive line just about set, all eyes will be on right tackle when fall camp kicks off. Trente Jones and Karsen Barnhart are expected to compete for the starting job this season, and all indications are that Jones emerged from spring as the frontrunner. But that hasn't stopped Barnhart, a redshirt junior from Paw Paw, from pushing. "Big year," Barnhart told MLive last weekend during his football camp at Paw Paw High School. "I'm competing with Trente Jones for the right-tackle spot. Just working my tail off to try to get that thing." Barnhart - listed at 6-foot-4 and 307 pounds - moved from the left side of the offensive line to the right in spring, when he spent considerable time trying to learn the role.

That's because the last three seasons saw Barnhart work exclusively on the left side, tallying four starts at left tackle and two starts at left guard. The left side and everything that comes with it - the movements, the footwork - became second nature for him. The move to the right, however, has forced him to re-learn the position. "I played for so long. I spent my first (three) years there," Barnhart said. "It's just about getting comfortable again on the right side." - Ann Arbor News
