Zachary Clement, Southeastern Louisiana, Player News

Zachary Clement threw for 373 yards and two touchdowns and Northwestern State took control from the beginning in a 37-10 win over Houston Christian on Saturday. Northwestern State (3-4 overall) is 3-0 in the Southland Conference for the first time since 2002. The Demons entered the contest scoring 80 of their 129 points (62%) after halftime. Against Houston Christian they flipped the script with three first-quarter touchdowns and a field goal and led 24-0. Kennieth Lacy ran for 107 yards on 16 carries and scored a touchdown and Zach Patterson caught 10 passes for 108 yards and a touchdown for Northwestern State. Clement aired it out, completing 30-of-53 passes and suffered three interceptions. The Huskies' (2-4, 1-2) Nate Livingston ran for 105 yards on 18 carries. Caleb Flagg's 31-yard pick-6 of Clement with 4:13 left in the third was Houston Christian's lone touchdown. - AP College Football

Zachary Clement brought Northwestern State back from 12 points down in the final 94 seconds with a pair of touchdowns and a two-point conversion to knock off Nicholls 36-33 on Saturday night. After losing its first three games to start the season, Northwestern State now finds itself 2-0 and in first place in Southland Conference play. Nicholls led 33-21 with 3:17 left after Julien Gums' 37-yard score. Clement answered with a 27-yard strike to Javon Antonio to pull the Demons within five, 33-28, and Northwestern State recovered the onside kick and drove to the Nicholls 3 with nine seconds left.

After Nicholls called a pair of timeouts, Clements hit Antonio on a slant pattern inside the 1 and the receiver spun out of the arms of two would-be tacklers and into the end zone. The pair connected again on a slant pattern in the end zone for a two-point conversion and a three-point lead. The Demons were flagged for a pair of unsportsmanlike conduct penalties following the PAT and were forced to kick off from their own 10, giving Nicholls the ball at its own 39. Kohen Granier's pass to the end zone was picked off as time expired. Clement had 288 yards on 21-for-42 passing and 70 yards on 18 carries to lead Northwestern State (2-3, 2-0). Antonio had nine catches for 132 yards. Granier was 20 of 41 for 324 yards and two touchdowns for Nicholls. Gums carried 18 times for 104 yards for Nicholls (0-5, 0-1). - AP College Football

Zachary Clement threw three touchdown passes and ran for a fourth as Northwestern State scored 28 straight points to earn a 35-27 win over Lamar on Saturday in a game that featured two teams in search of their first win. Nick Yockey threw eight yards to Jalen Dummett and Chris Esqueda kicked a 33-yard field goal to give Lamar a 10-0 win after one quarter. Clement started the Demons' comeback by hitting Javon Antonio with back-to-back touchdowns to take the lead, 14-10. Clement ran 35 yards for a touchdown to make it 21-10 at intermission. Clements hooked up with Scooter Adams on an 80-yard touchdown bomb early in the third quarter.

Esqueda snapped the Northwestern State run by booting a 25-yard field goal for Lamar, but Kennieth Lacy ran 55 yards for a touchdown on the final play of the third quarter to give the Demons (1-3, 1-0 Southland Conference) a 35-13 lead. Yockey capped a seven-play, 75-yard Lamar drive by hitting Kyndon Fuselier from eight yards out to make it 35-20. Major Bowden caught a 16-yard touchdown pass from Mike Chandler with 1:52 left to get the Cardinals (0-4, 0-1) within eight but the Demons recovered the ensuing on-side kick. - AP College Football
