Washington is the second defensive lineman to transfer this week after senior Maurice White transferred on Monday.   Memphis added more help on the defensive line as former Sam Houston State lineman Kamren Washington committed to the Tigers. Washington was the WAC Freshman of the Year last season after recording 13 tackles with a sack in 10 games. The 6-foot-2, 265 pound native from Mansfield, Texas entered the transfer portal on April 12 according to his Twitter feed. Washington took a visit to Memphis during the spring game Friday and also had offers from Charlotte, Texas State, Louisiana Tech and North Texas among others. "Soon as I got there, it was just a click with (defensive line) Coach (Kyle) Pope and (head coach Ryan) Silverfield," Washington told The Commercial Appeal. "They have a good team and I think I can come make an impact in the system and help them win a championship." He also said the spring game environment factored into his decision along with loving the culture at Memphis. - Memphis Commercial Appeal
