  12/04/22 - RB Tiyon EvansrJr/2023, Louisville, 5-10, 225 (DS#26 RB) + More +

After one season at Louisville, junior running back Tiyon Evans has opted to enter the 2023 NFL Draft, he announced via Twitter on Friday morning. "After putting my trust and faith in God over time for guidance and strength, I've made my decision and have decided to declare for the 2023 NFL Draft," he wrote in the graphic posted to his Twitter account. "I am excited for an opportunity to do something that has been a childhood dream of mine as I pursue a career in the NFL." Evans came to Louisville after spending a year at Tennessee and was a four-star junior college recruit in 2020.

In his debut with the Cardinals, the South Carolina native earned the starting running back role and totaled 89 yards on 13 carries with the team's lone touchdown in the season opener against Syracuse. He then scored Louisville's first TD in the second game of the season and was the leading rusher for a good portion of the season. Injuries, however, caused Evans to miss four games, which included the Governor's Cup regular-season finale. Still, he ended the year as the team's third-leading rusher with 525 yards and six touchdowns on 83 carries over eight games played. - Courier Journal

  11/05/22 - RB Tiyon EvansrJr/2023, Louisville, 5-10, 225 (DS#26 RB) + More +

Tiyon Evans ran for 126 yards on 10 carries, including a 71-yard touchdown, to help lead Louisville to a 34-10 victory over James Madison on Saturday night. The junior transfer from Tennessee spurred a ground game that amassed 244 yards for the Cardinals (6-3). His touchdown with 6:04 left in the third quarter extended Louisville's lead to 20-10 and came one play after the Dukes (5-3) were forced to punt.

Jawhar Jordan added 117 yards on 17 carries, and Malik Cunningham threw for 223 yards and three scores on 14-of-20 passing in the win. Unlike last week, when Louisville's defense forced Wake Forest into eight turnovers and eight sacks, the Cardinals did not get any of those against the Dukes. However, the Cardinals found a way to stymie an offense that entered Saturday averaging 38.7 points and 480.7 yards per game, limiting James Madison to just 193 yards. James Madison's Percy Agyei-Obese ran for 102 yards on 24 carries. His 9-yard touchdown with 1:43 left in the first half gave the Dukes a 10-7 lead. Cunningham, however, then rallied the Cardinals for a nine-play, 65-yard drive that led to a James Turner 28-yard field goal to end the half and tie the game. Quarterback Todd Centeio returned to action for James Madison after missing the Oct. 22 game against Marshall due to an oblique injury. But he threw for just 52 yards on 4-of-15 passing after throwing for 862 yards in his two previous starts. - Louisville/AP College Football

  10/25/22 - RB Tiyon EvansrJr/2023, Louisville, 5-10, 225 (DS#26 RB) + More +

The Cardinals will be missing a key player when they take the field against Pitt. Louisville running back Tiyon Evans will not play Saturday night against the Panthers, according to a team spokesperson. The Tennessee transfer hasn't played since going down with a lower leg injury against Boston College on Oct. 1. Jawhar Jordan started in his place against Virginia and totaled 29 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. This time, Trevion Cooley will be RB1 for the Cards. The do-it-all player has totaled 200 yards rushing and 56 receiving yards with a total of three touchdowns on the season. Evans has only played in four of the Cardinals' six games, missing two with injuries. So far this season, he's totaled 263 yards and three scores on 53 carries. - Courier Journal

  10/02/21 - RB Tiyon EvansrJr/2023, Louisville, 5-10, 225 (DS#26 RB) + More +

Hendon Hooker threw for three touchdowns and ran for another as Tennessee routed Missouri 62-24, scoring touchdowns on its first six possessions Saturday. Hooker completed 15 of 19 passes for 225 yards and rushed 14 times for 74 yards. He wasn't the only Volunteer who padded his stats against a beleaguered defense. Tiyon Evans rushed 15 times for 156 yards and three touchdowns. Tennessee (3-2, 1-1 Southeastern Conference) piled up 677 total yards and never punted. The Volunteers built a 28-3 first-quarter lead without ever needing to run a third-down play. Among the many highlights was Evans' 92-yard touchdown run in which he ran through a massive hole on the right side and wasn't touched by a Missouri defender.

The 92-yard TD run was third-longest in program history. The Tigers (2-3, 0-2 SEC) entered the game ranked 129th out of 130 FBS teams in rushing defense, allowing an average of 269 rushing yards per game. Tennessee had 275 rushing yards in the first half alone as it built a 45-10 lead and finished with 452 yards on the ground. The Tennessee defense contained Missouri's big-play threat, Tyler Badie, holding the running back to 41 yards on 21 carries, and intercepted quarterback Connor Bazelak twice. The best moment for Missouri came on special teams when Kris Abrams-Draine returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter. - Tennessee/AP College Football
