During his three-year OSU career, the former JC transfer completed 316 of 520 passes for 4,153 yards. Oregon State is losing senior quarterback Tristan Gebbia from its roster in addition to Nolan. Expected to return next season are Gulbranson and freshmen Travis Throckmorton and Dom Montiel. High school senior Aidan Chiles, a 4-star quarterback prospect, made a verbal commitment to O SU and is expected to sign later in December. - The Oregonian

Coach Jonathan Smith has yet to publicly declare who will start at quarterback for OSU in the Sept. 3 Boise State opener. An announcement may not come until the middle of next week, or perhaps even Monday of game week. But barring an injury or something unforeseen, Nolan is Oregon State's starting quarterback. He's getting more than 80 percent of the reps with the No. 1 offensive unit in practice. From viewing practice and hearing what others think, Nolan - who started 12 games last season - is improved . There remains a battle in camp at quarterback, but it's for No. 2 between Ben Gulbranson and Tristan Gebbia. The view from here is Gulbranson has the edge, but there's time for Gebbia to make an impression. - The Oregonian
