Running back Christian Turner, who had opted out when the Big Ten originally postponed the season and then opted back in only to play a limited role this fall, announced Saturday on Twitter he is entering the NCAA transfer portal. He will be the third player since Dec. 10 to enter the portal, along with center Zach Carpenter and punter Will Hart. - Detroit News

The Michigan football team could have another departure on its hands, this time at the already inexperienced linebacker position. Redshirt freshman Charles Thomas has entered his name into the NCAA's transfer portal, indicating a preference to leave Michigan, team spokesman Dave Ablauf confirmed to MLive on Monday. Thomas, who appeared in two games for the Wolverines in 2019, is no longer listed on Michigan's team roster for 2020. The 6-foot, 238-pound Thomas was a three-star recruit after attending St. Thomas More (Oakdale, Conn.), IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) and Langston Hughes High School in Fairburn, Ga. He has four years of eligibility remaining. Entering the transfer portal allows coaches from other schools to pursue Thomas, who could decide to return. Should Thomas depart, it'd leave Michigan with 11 scholarship linebackers, four of them true freshmen. He is the first player from Michigan's highly-ranked 2019 recruiting class to enter the the transfer portal, and third player this offseason, joining 2020 members Aaron Lewis and Osman Savage, a four-star linebacker from Baltimore, Md. - Ann Arbor News
