  12/20/21 - C Colby PursellrSr/2023, Colorado, 6-3, 300 (DS#999 C) + More +

Dorrell confirmed Wednesday that two veteran offensive linemen won't return next year. Starting center Colby Pursell could have played one more season, but is choosing to focus on graduate school. Backup Max Wray, who came to CU as a transfer from Ohio State last summer, has had some neck issues and will not continue to play, either. CU also has a pair of backup safeties that are moving on. Ray Robinson has graduated and won't return. Curtis Appleton also has his degree and one more year to play, but he put his name into the NCAA transfer portal on Wednesday. - Daily Camera

  04/09/21 - C Colby PursellrSr/2023, Colorado, 6-3, 300 (DS#999 C) + More +

As a freshman in 2018, Colby Pursell became a fixture in the Colorado Buffaloes' lineup and seemed poised to anchor the offensive line for several years. Injuries and illness have limited him to 10 games the past two years, but the 6-foot-4, 305-pound junior is feeling good this spring. "It was kind of a weird little trip I've been on since I've been here, as far as injuries, but right now I'm feeling pretty good," Pursell said Monday after the Buffs' fourth practice of spring. In 2018, Pursell became just the third freshman to start a season opener at center at CU. He wound up starting all 12 games and played more snaps (830) than anyone on the line.

In 2019, he moved to right guard but was limited to seven games (five starts) after having his gallbladder removed in the middle of the season. Last season, Pursell was back at center and started three of the Buffs' six games, but missed three games in the middle of the season because of an injury. This spring, Pursell is working at center - but said he could shift to guard if needed - and is feeling good physically. He gives some of the credit to new director of strength and conditioning Shannon Turley, who was hired on Jan. 29. "I've been working a lot with coach Turley and he's great," Pursell said. "I think he's awesome for us. I think he's helped a lot. - Daily Camera

  07/26/20 - C Colby PursellrSr/2023, Colorado, 6-3, 300 (DS#999 C) + More +

2020 WUERFFEL TROPHY PRESEASON WATCH LIST: Colby Pursell, Colorado, junior, offensive line,...Pursell has been extremely active in community service while at CU, participating in programs in conjunction with the Global Down Syndrom Foundation and also with Buff Hugs. Pursell has helped run clinics with the Global Down Syndrom Foundation over the summer the past few years, with the exception of this summer due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With Buff Hugs, he has visited patients at Children's Hospital Colorado and helped with a craft party the Buffs help there last fall.

On the field, Pursell has started 17 games, the third most among CU returners on offense. He has twice been named to the NFF/Colorado Chapter All-Academic team. He started all five games in 2019, missing four games due to illness, and all 12 games as a freshman in 2018 when he earned mention on the NFF/Colorado Chapter All-Colorado team and was a finalist for CU's Freshman of the Year across all sports. - Colorado Football
