  2022 ALL-MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM: Down Lineman - Jose Ramirez, Eastern Michigan,...One of the most dominant pass rushers in college football, Ramirez finished the 2022 regular season slate on numerous national leaderboards. He was first in the nation with 1.09 sacks per game, tied for first in total sacks (12.0), and finished second nationally with 1.8 tackles for loss per contest. He also owns the nation's second-best single-game performance (in terms of sacks) this season. He collected a program-record 4.0 in Eastern's game at Western Michigan University, Oct. 8. That game was one of three multiple-sack performances he issued for EMU this season. He is Eastern Michigan's third-leading tackler this season with 63 stops, and leads the Eagles in both quarterback hurries (10) and forced fumbles (2). Ramirez's 12 sacks is an all-time single-season record at EMU. He now has 20.5 sacks in his career, which places him second all-time in program history. He was first in the nation with 1.09 sacks per game, tied for second in total sacks (12.0), and finished second nationally with 1.8 tackles for loss per contest. He also owns the nation's second-best single-game performance (in terms of sacks) this season. He collected a program-record 4.0 in Eastern's game at Western Michigan University, Oct. 8. That game was one of three multiple-sack performances he issued for EMU this season.

He is Eastern Michigan's third-leading tackler this season with 63 stops, and leads the Eagles in both quarterback hurries (10) and forced fumbles (2). Ramirez's 12 sacks is an all-time single-season record at EMU. He now has 20.5 sacks in his career, which places him second all-time in program history, just five shy of the record. He is only the fourth player since 1998 to record double-digit sacks in a single season for Eastern Michigan. Additionally, Ramirez had 19.5 TFLs during the 2022 regular season, tied for ninth in school history and the most since multiple-year National Football League veteran and E-Club Hall of Fame inductee Jason Jones recorded the same number in 2007.   NOV 28 MAC WEST DIVISION DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jose Ramirez, Eastern Michigan, Defensive End, Senior, Lake Alfred, Fla. (Auburndale),...Senior Jose Ramirez put together another outstanding day in the opponent's backfield in Eastern Michigan's 39-18 win over Central Michigan, Nov. 25. The lineman dropped CMU's quarterbacks 3.0 times, just one shy of his single-game high 4.0 he recorded at Western Michigan, Oct. 8, giving him 7.0 of his 12.0 sacks against Michigan MAC schools. His 12.0 sacks for 79-yards now brings Ramierz to first place in the nation and conference in total sacks. Furthermore, the Florida native's performance in the Eagles' victory now ranks the defensive end first in school history with 12.0 sacks in a single season. Ramirez now sits in second place in program history for career sacks with 20.5. The graduate student is only the fourth player since 1998 to record double-digit sacks in a single season for Eastern Michigan. - MAC Football

  NOV 21 MAC WEST DIVISION DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jose Ramirez, Eastern Michigan, Defensive End, Senior, Lake Alfred, Fla.-Auburndale,...Defensive end Jose Ramirez was outstanding in EMU's game against Kent State, Nov. 16. He finished with a team-high seven tackles, including 3.5 tackles for loss. His TFL total is his second-best of the season, just behind the four he registered at WMU, Oct. 8. Ramirez has 17.5 sacks in his career, which ties for fourth all-time in program history. Additionally, the 3.5 TFLs Ramirez recorded against Kent State moved him up to 31.0 TFLs in his career, moving him to No. 7 all-time at EMU. Overall, he is one of five Mid-American Conference receivers named to the 90-man list. Selected Preseason First Team All-MAC by both Athlon Sports and Phil Steele in 2022, Ramirez dominated on the defensive line last season. He ranked 10th in the MAC with 6.5 sacks, a career-best mark for the Lake Alfred, Fla. native. He ranks 10th in the MAC with 6.0 sacks, a career-best mark for the Lake Alfred, Fla. native. Ramirez is third on the team with 59 tackles this season (31 solo, 28 assisted), and leads the team with 10.5 tackles for loss. As a unit, EMU has forced 15 turnovers in 2021, and has scored points off of 13 (9 touchdowns, 4 field goals). EMU has scored 75 points off those turnovers, twice as a direct result of the play, and 11 times in its subsequent offensive possession.   NOV 8 MAC WEST DIVISION DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jose Ramirez, Eastern Michigan, Defensive End, Sophomore, Lake Alfred, Fla. (Auburndale) Toledo,...Sophomore defensive end Jose Ramirez put together a career-best effort against Toledo, Nov. 2. The Lake Alfred, Fla. native led all Eagles in the following categories: tackles (10), sacks (2.0), TFLs (3.0), forced fumbles (1), quarterback hurries (1 - tied for first). The 10 tackles sets a career-high for Ramirez, while his two sacks tied for a career-best, set last year at Western Michigan, Dec. 5. As a defense, EMU racked up a season-best five sacks for 29 yards against the Rockets. Ramirez was responsible for two of those sacks. Ramirez's effort was critical in a historic, 52-49, win for EMU. Not only did Eastern win at Toledo's Glass Bowl for the first time since 1999, but the team is now bowl eligible for the sixth time in program history and the fourth time since 2016. - MAC Football

  2020 ALL-MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE THIRD TEAM (COACHES): Down Lineman - Jose Ramirez, Eastern Michigan,...The final All-MAC selection for EMU in 2020 is Ramirez, who burst onto the scene in the abbreviated season. Ramirez appeared in each of EMU's six games in 2020, and notched his first-career tackle against Kent State, Nov. 4. He recorded at least two tackles in every appearance in 2020. Ramirez's breakout game came at Western Michigan, Dec. 5, where he set personal bests in tackles (7), tackles-for-loss (2.0), sacks (2.0), and forced fumbles (1.0).

Each number in the previous categories, with the exception of his total tackles, led or tied for the team lead against Western. Ramirez was an anchor for the EMU defense that held Western Michigan's D'Wayne Eskridge, the nation's leader in all-purpose yards coming into the game (255 yards per game average) to a season-low 99 yards. The game was Eskridge's first without at least 230 all-purpose yards. Additionally, his kick return yards (30) and receiving yards (53) against EMU were season lows.
