SEPT 26 CONFERENCE USA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Middle Tennessee DL Zaylin Wood, who was also named the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week, was instrumental in leading a defense that wreaked havoc on the Miami Hurricanes all day and h eld them to just 60 rushing yards. Wood had a career-best two sacks to go with 2.0 tackles for loss, a fumble recovery and an interception he batted in the air, grabbed, and returned 15 yards for a touchdown in the opening quarter. It was his second care er interception, but his first-ever defensive touchdown (caught a pass for a TD on offense in 2021). - Conference USA Football

SEPT 25 WALTER CAMP NATIONAL FBS DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: ZAYLIN WOOD, MIDDLE TENNESSEE STATE, RS Sophomore, Defensive Tackle, Bowdon, GA/Heard County,...Zaylin Wood recorded two tackles, including two quarterback sacks, recovered one fumble, and in tercepted one pass as Middle Tennessee State defeated 25th-ranked Miami, 45-31. Wood returned his interception 15 yards for a touchdown as the Blue Raiders improved to 3-1 with the victory. Notes: Zaylin Wood is the third Middle Tennessee State player to earn Walter Camp National Player of Week honors since 2004, and the first since running back Phillip Turner (Nov. 23, 2008). - The Walter Camp Football Foundation
