Former five-star linebacker Justin Flowe's career at Oregon was derailed by injuries. 'That's all in the past,' he says. 'All I can do now is focus on the future.' When Justin Flowe officially became a college football player in 2020, many thought by this point he'd be preparing for the NFL draft. Currently, the only thing connecting Flowe and the NFL is the league's shield logo tattooed on his right hand. But that could change if everything goes according to plan in the linebacker's new chapter with the Arizona Wildcats. Flowe's Plan A? The Upland, California, native, who played in Snoop Dogg's youth football league as a kid and developed the moniker "Baby Man," signed with the Oregon Ducks as a five-star prospect and top-ranked inside linebacker nationally.

Plan A was slowed down by a sequence of knee and foot injuries in Flowe's first two seasons at Oregon before he finished with a career-high 35 tackles in 2022, including four in Tucson against the UA. But Flowe clamored for a change of scenery and entered the transfer portal with hopes that Plan B could lead to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell saying Flowe's name at the draft podium. "I just see it as adversity," Flowe said. "Adversity happens to everybody, so (it's about) the way you get through it. I'm just planning now to thrive this year and be the best I can be. "That's all in the past. All I can do now is focus on the future." - Arizona Star News

While Noah Sewell is established as one of the best players in the Pac-12, Flowe will be looking to play his first full season in an Oregon uniform. Justin Flowe has played in two games in two seasons because of injury. Flowe played in the Ducks' season-opening victory against Fresno State last year as he registered 14 tackles, a tackle for loss, and a forced fumble. He earned Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honors, but Flowe would never see the field again in 2021. Flowe suffered a foot injury that ended his season. In the spring, Flowe was limited in more than half of the practices, but he participated in 11-on-11 and positional drills. "He's just eager. He's eager to get to work," Lanning said about Flowe. 'He has an infectious personality and enthusiasm and the way you approach every day, he knows he's got a long ways to go. We're going to continue to chart his progress and see what it looks like as he moves forward, but definitely fun to see him out there. - Register Guard

Oregon linebacker Justin Flowe is entering his third season as a third-year redshirt freshman with only two games played. His athletic ability is without question and if he can stay on the field for an entire season he might be one of the best linebackers in college football based on talent alone, but Flowe has to stay available. Flowe was a wrecking ball in the 2021 season opener and showed the kind of play and ferocity that is envisioned of the top-ranked linebacker recruit in the country. Then his season was over with a foot injury. He was limited in the spring and didn't play in the spring game, but is on track to be back to full participation in fall camp. Jeff Bassa took over the spot last year and is staying there and Keith Brown saw some opportunities before a hamstring injury knocked him out. - The Oregonian

Justin Flowe is steadily increasing his workload as Oregon begins its final full week of spring practice. The Ducks inside linebacker took reps with the second-team defense on Tuesday, his first work during an 11-on-11 period when viewing was open to the media. It's still being determined if the third-year freshman linebacker will play during Saturday's spring game (1 p.m., Pac-12 Network). "He's eager to get to work," Oregon coach Dan Lanning said. "He has an infectious personality and an enthusiasm in the way he approach(es) every day, he knows he's got a long ways to go. We're going to continue to chart his progress and see what it looks like as he moves forward, but definitely fun to see him out there." Flowe has been recovering from a season-ending right foot injury he suffered against Fresno State on Sept. 4, when he had 14 tackles and forced a fumble. - The Oregonian

Justin Flowe, one of three five-star recruits from the 2020 recruiting class, along with Sewell and cornerback Dontae Manning, is the favorite to replace Slade-Matautia after playing well in the spring game. "I just have a motor. I want to make every play," Flowe said. "That's how I always feel playing football. I just want to be that animal on the field." Flowe missed six games last season with a torn meniscus, a knee injury that required surgery. "I think the lowest moment for me was having surgery for the first time. It was really an eye-opener for me,"

Flowe said of the lost 2020 campaign. "It made me even more humble and just wanting to work on everything I've got to do to be the best player I can be. "That was the first injury I ever had, but I didn't let it hold me back. I just told myself it's just a bump in the road to glory." Flowe, the second-highest rated recruit to ever sign with Oregon behind Thibodeaux, is ready to start living up to the billing. "I feel like this opportunity I've got is the biggest and I just want to take advantage of it," Flowe said. "Isaac Slade was a really great linebacker. He was a vet, so he just showed me the way. I'm going to do what I can do to help the team." - Register Guard

  11/22/20 - ILB Justin FlowerJr/2026, Arizona, 6-2, 225 (DS#12 ILB) + More +

Oregon Ducks freshman linebacker Justin Flowe has a torn meniscus and will miss the rest of the 2020 season, a source confirmed to The Oregonian/OregonLive on Tuesday afternoon. The top-ranked linebacker and one of the top recruits in the country in the 2020 class, Flowe did not play in Oregon's win at Washington State and was not seen on the sideline, though Ducks coach Mario Cristobal said he traveled but was unavailable. Prior to the game, Flowe posted to Instagram that he would not be playing due to an injury but would "be back real soon ready and hungry." Tuesday morning, a member of Flowe's high school coaching staff tweeted that the former 5-star prospect tore his meniscus and would have surgery on Wednesday, which Flowe reposted to Instagram. Flowe, Oregon's backup weak-side linebacker, had one tackle in the season opener against Stanford. - Oregonian
