  12/19/19 - P Chris BarnesSr/2020, Rice, 6-1, 249 (DS#32 P) + More +

2019 ALL-CONFERENCE USA SECOND TEAM (COACHES): P Chris Barnes, Gr., Rice,...Barnes made the most of the opportunity to return to Rice for an additional season and replace 2018 with C-USA Special Teams Player of the Year Jack Fox. Prior to the season, Barnes was selected as a co-captain by his teammates and went on to finish second in C-USA with a 44.8 yard average on 35 punts, which ranks sixth in school history. He combined with Adam Nunez to rank 18th nationally with a 41.1 yard net punting average at the end of the regular season, one yard better than Rice averaged in 2018 with Fox. He had two punts of better than 60 yards, including a career best of 66 yards at UTSA, and had punts of 50 or better in seven of 11 games. He also took over placekicking duties over the final eight games and converted eight of his last nine field goal attempts, including a career best from 48 yards vs. North Texas. - Rice Football
