  2021 ALL-CAA FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM (COACHES): Ty Son Lawton, Stony Brook, RB, Jr.,...Lawton finished the season as the CAA leading rusher with 1,088 yards on 216 carries. His 1,088 rushing yards were the 10th-most in a single-season in program history and the most since Donald Liotine ran for 1,148 yards in 2018. The redshirt junior led the league in rushing yards per game with 98.9 and was second in rushing touchdowns with 10. He ranked ninth in all of NCAA FCS in rushing, 11th in rushing yards per game, and tied 24th in rushing touchdowns. The Staten Island, N.Y. native ran for a new career-high 192 yards and two touchdowns vs. Delaware on October 16.

In that game he registered a 99-yard touchdown run, which was the longest play from scrimmage in program history, tied for the longest play in CAA history, tied for the longest rush in all of FCS, and tied for the longest play from scrimmage in all of FCS this season. It was just the third 90-plus yard offensive play in program history and the first since November 23, 2013. He was selected as the CAA Offensive Player of the Week for the week of October 17, after his career game. - Stony Brook Football

  Ty Son Lawton scored two touchdowns and Stony Brook snapped a four-game losing streak with a 22-17 victory over Maine on Saturday. Lawton caught a 9-yard touchdown pass from Tyquell Fields to give the Seawolves a 22-10 lead early in the fourth quarter before Maine answered with a 10-yard pass from Derek Robertson to Jacob Hennie, cutting Stony Brooks' lead to 22-17 with 3:49 remaining. After Maine forced a punt, Robertson was intercepted on the Black Bears' only remaining possession. Stony Brook built a 16-0 lead in the second quarter on Lawton's 9-yard touchdown run and three field goals by Angelo Guglielmello. The Seawolves led 16-10 at the half. Fields completed 13 of 25 passes for 164 yards with a touchdown and interception for the Seawolves (4-5, 3-3 Colonial Athletic Association), which has won three straight games. For the Black Bears (4-5, 3-4), Freddie Brock had 10 carries for 82 yards and Robertson finished 17 of 32 for 160 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. - AP College Football

  Ty Son Lawton burst up the middle to score a 99-yard touchdown on Stony Brook's first play from scrimmage and the Seawolves shocked defending Colonial Athletic Association champion Delaware 34-17 on Saturday. The loss puts a serious dent in No. 15-ranked (in the FCS coaches poll) Delaware's postseason hopes. The Blue Hens (3-3, 2-2) advanced to the FCS semifinals during the spring season. Lawton rushed 22 times for 192 yards and scored a second touchdown from the 1-yard line early in the second quarter as the Seawolves (2-5, 1-3) built a 13-0 lead.

Tyquell Fields, who was 13-for-18 passing for 133 yards and a TD for Stony Brook, found Khalil Newton with a 26-yard scoring pass in the third quarter, boosting the lead to 20-10, then ran it in from the 1 for a 27-17 lead. Randy Pringle picked up a fumbled punt in the end zone for Stony Brook's final points. Zach Gwynn passed for 199 yards and two scores for Delaware and Dejoun Lee gained 91 yards on the ground. The Blue Hens lost 22-15 at No. 18-ranked Rhode Island a week ago and play host to second-place, and No. 7-ranked, James Madison on Oct.23. - AP College Football

  OCT 28 CAA FOOTBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK: Ty Son Lawton, R-Fr., RB, Stony Brook (Staten Island, N.Y./Curtis),...Lawton rushed for a team-high 121 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries in Stony Brook's 36-35 victory at No. 5 Villanova. It was the third consecutive 100-yard effort for Lawton and came against a VU defense that was allowing just 99.4 ypg on the ground. He had a 10-yard TD run in the 3rd quarter and broke loose for a key 47-yard run late in the 4th period that set up another TD. - Colonial Athletic Association Football
