Boise State pass rusher George Tarlas confirmed to the Idaho Statesman on Thursday that he will miss the rest of the season after suffering a fracture in his right hip socket. Tarlas underwent surgery to repair the fracture on Wednesday night, and he thanked fans for their support with a tweet on Thursday afternoon. "Thank you all for the prayers," Tarlas wrote. "God is good. Thank you for another day." Tarlas joined the Broncos this year after spending four seasons at Weber State, where he earned the nickname the "Greek Freak" while appearing in 45 games and posting 19 career sacks.

Transferring to Boise State was a homecoming of sorts for the native of Chakilda, Greece. Tarlas spent his high school years in Idaho, first at Caldwell and then Borah. Playing in the final season of his college career, Tarlas was leading Boise State with six tackles for loss this season. He was also second on the team with four sacks, and his 31 total tackles were tied for No. 4. - Idaho Statesman
