  2022 ALL-BIG SOUTH CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM: QB - Bailey Fisher, R-Sr., Gardner-Webb,...Fisher completed 220-of-339 passes for 2,755 yards and 18 touchdowns during the regular season and ran for eight more touchdowns - leading a potent offense that averaged 40.8 points and 520.0 yards per game in league play. Against Big South competition, Fisher was even more effective, tossing 13 touchdowns against only two interceptions in five games. He was named Big South Offensive Player of the Week five times and became the first quarterback in the past 30 years to post a pair of 400-yard passing games in the same season. Fisher was added as a finalist for the Walter Payton Award - the FCS National Offensive Player of the Year - on Tuesday afternoon. He was also named first-team All-Big South.   2022 BIG SOUTH OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Bailey Fisher, QB, R-Sr., Gardner-Webb,...Fisher (Clayton, Ga.) was a four-time Big South Offensive Player of the Week honoree during the season, and is a finalist for the Stats Perform FCS Walter Payton Offensive Player of the Year Award. He finished the regular-season 220-of-339 passing for a league-best 64.9 completion percentage, with 2,755 passing yards (250.45 per game) and 18 touchdowns, and rushed for another eight scores. Fisher averaged 263.7 yards of offense, and had two 400-yard offensive games -- including 403 against current No. 23 FBS Coastal Carolina. Fisher tied a Big South record with three consecutive games with 350+ yards of offense, tied a Big South single-game record with six touchdowns responsible for against Bryant (five passing, one rushing), as well as a then-record for most passing yards in a conference game with 408 at Charleston Southern.

He directed an offense that averaged 40.8 points and 520.0 yards per game in the Runnin' Bulldogs' 5-0 Big South Championship run, and posted a league-best 17 total touchdowns against conference foes (13 passing, four rushing), along with a Big South-best 179.19 efficiency rating in the league season. He was a College Football Performance Award weekly Honorable Mention twice this season, had five games with a passing touchdown and rushing score, and had the third-most rushing TDs in the conference in 2022.   Bailey Fisher threw three touchdown passes and ran for a fourth score, all in the first half, to lead Gardner-Webb to a 42-35 win over Campbell Saturday. The win sets up a showdown for the Big South Conference championship November 19 when the 4-0 Bulldogs host North Carolina A&T, which is 4-0 in conference after a 20-10 win over Charleston Southern Saturday. Fisher hit T.J. Luther with a short touchdown pass to open the scoring, then dashed 10 yards for a score to make it 14-0 after one quarter. He added a 6-yard touchdown pass to Cutrell Haywood and a 30-yard scoring pass to Caleb Borders to build a 35-14 lead at intermission.

Fisher completed 30 of 38 passes for 361 yards, three touchdowns and an interception to lead Gardner-Webb (5-5, 4-0). Narii Gaither carried 19 times for 100 yards. Campbell came into the game with the leading offense in the Big South, averaging 435.2 yards per game, but the Camels managed just 383 yards of offense against Gardner-Webb. The Runnin' Bulldogs are 3-0 in the Big South for the first time since 2003. Gardner-Webb is tied with North Carolina A&T atop the conference with Campbell one game back. Bryant took a 14-7 lead with 11 seconds left in the first quarter, but Bailey answered with his second touchdown pass of the game as time expired in the quarter, connecting with Jonathan Burns on a 71-yard bomb.   Bailey Fisher passed for a career-high 408 yards with a go-ahead touchdown to guide Gardner-Webb to a 28-14 victory over Charleston Southern on Saturday night. Fisher, who completed 26 of 41 passes for Gardner-Webb (3-5, 2-0 Big South Conference), connected with Cutrell Haywood for a 29-yard score to give the Bulldogs a 10-7 lead. They never trailed again.   Bailey Fisher threw three touchdown passes, the Gardner-Webb defense allowed just 19 yards in the second half and the Runnin' Bulldogs rolled past Robert Morris 48-0 on Saturday in the Big South Conference opener for both teams. Gardner-Webb led 20-0 at halftime after Fisher ran for a touchdown and completed 13 of 15 passes for 176 yards with two touchdowns.   Bailey Fisher led two crisp, third-quarter touchdown drives and Gardner-Webb added an interception returned for another score, posting 21 unanswered points to gain the upper hand on Western Carolina 52-34 Saturday night. Fisher passed for 261 yards with two touchdowns. Gardner-Webb (2-2) gained 291 yards on the ground with Narii Gaither carrying 22 times for 151 and two TDs and T.J. Jones gaining 102 with a touchdown. The teams erupted for a combined 42 points in the third quarter with Western Carolina (0-4) staking out a 34-24 lead on a Rogan Wells six-yard TD pass to Raphae Williams.

The Runnin' Bulldogs answered with Fisher's five-yard scoring pass to Deland Thomas. The Catamounts pinned Gardner-Webb at the 10 after a punt, but Fisher led a four-play, 90-yard scoring drive, including consecutive completions of 25 and 53 yards to T.J. Luther and Justin Franklin, respectively. Donovan Jones capped the drive from the 6, and Gardner-Webb scored again 44 seconds later when Jamari Brown intercepted Wells and returned it 36 yards down the sideline for the Runnin' Bulldogs biggest lead, 45-34.   SEPT 6 BIG SOUTH OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Gardner-Webb quarterback Bailey Fisher (Clayton, Ga.) passed for 315 yards and three touchdowns in a five-point loss at FBS Georgia Southern on Saturday. In his GWU debut, he completed his first four passes of the game and finished 27-of-45 without a turnover. The performance was notable against a Georgia Southern secondary that led the nation last season in interceptions and ranked among the best in FBS in pass efficiency defense in 2020. Fisher tossed a 41-yard touchdown pass that gave Gardner-Webb a 6-3 lead heading into the second quarter and connected on a pair of fourth quarter touchdown passes that pulled Gardner-Webb within 23-18 and 30-25, respectively. Murray State scored on its first possession, Preston Rice's 11-yard pass to LaMartez Brooks capping a 3-play, 45-yard drive after an interception for a 7-0 lead.   SEPT 30/WEEK 5 OVC CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Bailey Fisher, QB, 5-11, 205, So., Clayton, Ga., Tennessee Tech,...Fisher tossed a school record six touchdown passes as Tennessee Tech continued its best start (4-1) since 2011 with a 40-29 win over Eastern Illinois to open OVC play. Only two players in the FCS have more than six touchdown passes in a game this season. The sophomore completed 22-of-34 passes and had touchdown passes of 5, 2, 16, 13, 11 and 27 yards.

It was the most touchdown passes by an OVC player in a game since the 2017 season. He also ran the ball 13 times for 29 yards. In just 15 games in his career, Fisher is already ninth in career passing and 10th in total offense in the Tech record book. He current ranks third nationally in points responsible for (108), eighth in rushing touchdowns (7), 14th in passing touchdowns (10) and 17th in passing yards (1,248).   Bailey Fisher threw a school-record six touchdown passes to help Tennessee Tech beat Eastern Illinois 40-29 on Saturday night and snap a seven-game skid against the Panthers. Fisher was 22-of-34 passing for 269 yards with two interceptions and completed at least one pass to 10 different receivers. The Golden Eagles (4-1, 1-0 Ohio Valley Conference) - who went 1-10 in each of the last two seasons - are off to their best start since 2011, the same year they last beat Eastern Illinois (0-5, 0-1). The Panthers have lost six in a row dating to last season.

Fisher's 5-yard touchdown pass to Austin Hicks capped a 10-play, 73-yard drive that made it 7-7 early in the second quarter and, after an interception by Aderick Moore, D.J. Wilkes' 2-yard TD reception gave Tennessee Tech the lead for good with 7:51 left in the first half. Eastern Illinois fumbled on its next play from scrimmage, setting up a 16-yard scoring strike from Fisher to Darrius Stafford 21 seconds later.   SEPT 23/WEEK 4 OVC CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Bailey Fisher, QB, 5-11, 205, So., Clayton, Ga., Tennessee Tech,...Fisher accounted for 404 yards of total offense and five touchdowns (3 rushing, 2 passing) as Tennessee Tech won at Western Illinois 38-24. It marked the first non-conference road win for the program since 2013 and gives the team its first 3-1 start since the 2011 season. The sophomore completed 23-of-37 passes for 314 yards, including a 31-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter and a 17-yard score just before halftime.

With his feet Bailey carried the ball 13 times for 90 yards (6.9 ypc) and scores of 6, 1 and 26 yards. His final touchdown, a 26-yard run with 4:47 to play iced the game. Fisher ranks third nationally in rushing touchdowns (7), fifth in total touchdowns (7), 15th in points responsible for (18.0/game) and scoring (11.0 points/game), 25th in total passing yards (979) and 27th in total offense (274.8 yards/game).   SEPT 2/WEEK 1 OVC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Bailey Fisher, QB. 5-11, 205, So., Clayton, Ga., Tennessee Tech,...Fisher accounted for 463 yards of total offense, five touchdowns (2 passing, 3 rushing) and three two-point conversions as Tennessee Tech overcame a 23-point deficit to top Samford 59-58 in double overtime. From the 0:51 mark in the third quarter, Fisher threw two touchdowns passes, rushed for three touchdowns, then also completed three of four 2-point conversions, including the game-tying (rush) to send the game to overtime. The final two touchdowns and two-point conversions came in the final 1:18 of regulation, as Tech had trailed 44-28 with 2:20 to play. After the teams traded touchdowns in the first overtime, Samford took a lead on the first possession of the second extra period.

Following a touchdown run by Andrew Fleming, Bailey converted the winning two-point conversion, a pass to David Gist, to give his team the win. Fisher finished the game 31-of-44 for 415 yards and two touchdowns (no interceptions) and rushed 13 times for 48 yards and three touchdowns. The 415 passing yards and the 463 yards of total offense were each the third-best performances in TTU history. In addition, Fisher also punted the ball twice for 76 yards, pinning both inside the Samford 20-yard line.   Bailey Fisher threw for two touchdowns and ran for three more as Tennessee Tech built a big lead and cruised past Western Illinois, 38-24 in a nonconference game Saturday night. Fisher hit Darrius Stafford with a 31-yard scoring pass in the first quarter and Tavin Kilpatrick from 17-yards out in the second as the Golden Eagles built a 14-3 halftime lead. Fisher then ran 6 yards for a score to open the third quarter and a yard out early in the fourth to put Tennessee Tech (3-1) up 31-10. After Western Illinois' Kevin Johnson threw two touchdown passes in less than a minute to get with one score, Fisher scampered 26 yards with 4:47 left to put the game out of reach. Fisher was 23-of-37 passing for 314 yards, but was picked off twice. He ran for 90 yards on 13 carries.
