  SEPT 26 BIG SKY SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Elijah Dotson (Northern Colorado),...Elijah Dotson was named the Big Sky Football Special Teams Player of the Week after leading Northern Colorado to a 35-14 win over Idaho State this past Saturday. Dotson finished the game with 208 all-purpose yards, with an 82-yard punt return touchdown and 102 yards rushing. Dotson became the first UNC player to return a punt for a score since 2015 and was the first Bears' running back since 2019 to rush over the century mark.   Elijah Dotson broke a tie with a short touchdown run and followed it up with a long punt return for a score to spark Northern Colorado's 35-14 victory over Idaho State on Saturday. The Bears broke the game open in the fourth quarter, scoring three touchdowns in the first 6-plus minutes of the period. Dotson's 2-yard touchdown run gave Northern Colorado a 21-14 lead with 14:23 remaining. After the Bears forced a punt, Dotson returned the kick 82 yards for a score. Northern Colorado struck again on Idaho State's next possession when Elijah Anderson-Taylor returned a fumble 47 yards for another score and a 35-14 lead.

Dotson had 211 all-purpose yards - 102 rushing and 27 receiving to go with the 82-yard punt return. Dylan McCaffrey completed 23 of 28 passes for 234 yards with one touchdown for the Bears (2-2, 1-0 Big Sky). Alec Pell caught six passes for 86 yards. Raiden Hunter had 111 yards on the ground for the Bengals (0-4, 0-1). Hunter Hays was 25-of-34 passing for 264 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Xavier Guillory had seven receptions for 120 yards. Hays and Guillory connected on a 51-yard pass that tied the score at 14 heading to halftime. - Northern Colorado/AP College Football

  2019 ALL-BIG SKY CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM (COACHES): Running Back Elijah Dotson, Junior, Sacramento State,...Dotson returned to the first team for the second consecutive seasons. One of the top running backs in the league, Dotson led the team with 738 rushing yards and also had a team high 69 receptions for 700 yards to give him 1,439 all-purpose yards. The junior led the Hornets with 11 total touchdowns during the season with seven rushing and five receiving scores. He averaged 4.9 rushing yards per attempt and had three games with 100 rushing yards. The Sacramento native broke out this year as a receiver in the team's new offense. He became the first Sacramento State running back to have 100 receiving yards in a game as he had 158 against Northern Colorado.   Elijah Dotson ran for 109 yards and two touchdowns and Sacramento State beat Idaho 31-7 on Saturday. The Hornets (8-3, 6-1) moved into a three-way tie with Montana and Weber State atop the Big Sky Conference standings with one game left in the regular season. Sacramento State beat the Grizzlies 49-22 on October 19 and lost 36-17 to the Wildcats on November 2. Caelan Barnes recovered a fumble forced by Marcus Bruce on the game's second play from scrimmage and six plays later Kevin Thompson's 4-yard touchdown run gave Sacramento State a 7-0 lead. Josiah Erickson recovered another Vandals fumble early in the second quarter at the 19 and, after the Hornets went three-and-out, Devon Medeiros made a 33-yard field goal but Idaho was called for roughing the kicker, giving Sacramento State a first-and-goal at the 6.

Two plays later, Dotson scored on a 4-yard run. Medeiros kicked a 33-yarder midway through the period and BJ Perkinson's 22-yard TD run with 54 seconds left in the half made it 24-0. Mason Petrino had for 133 yards passing, including a 24-yard touchdown to Cutrell Haywood, for Idaho (4-7, 2-5). Sacramento State, which went into the game ranked No. 6 in the FCS Coaches poll, limited the Vandals to 194 total yards and just eight first downs.   OCT 28 BIG SKY OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Sacramento State running back Elijah Dotson broke tackle after tackle to rack up a season-high 176 yards on the ground. He added a career-high-tying three rushing touchdowns in Sacramento State's 38-14 win over Cal Poly. The junior was the catalyst for a Hornet rushing attack which amassed 348 rushing yards and five touchdowns in the game. Dotson registered touchdown runs of 19, 1 and 30 yards in the game. He also led the Hornets with five receptions for 50 yards. The 100-yard rushing performance was the eighth of Dotson's career and the second this season.   Elijah Dotson ran 19 times for 176 yards and three touchdowns on Saturday night and Sacramento State beat Cal Poly 38-14. Kevin Thomson passed for 171 yards and an interception and ran 11 times for 104 yards for the Hornets (6-2, 4-0 Big Sky Conference). BJ Perkinson added 57 yards rushing with two TDs. After a scoreless first quarter, Sacramento State scored 17 points in the second quarter and a touchdown in the third to make it 24-0.

Jake Jeffrey's 43-yard touchdown pass to J.J. Koski cut the deficit to 24-7 for the Mustangs (2-6, 1-4), but the Hornets scored two more touchdowns to make it 38-7 in the middle of the fourth quarter. Sacramento State, ranked eighth in the FCS Coaches Poll, hosts fifth-ranked Weber State next Saturday with first place in the Big Sky standings at stake. Dotson's average of 115.4 yards per game was the third highest in school history while his total of 1.154 yards placed him seventh despite the team playing on 10 games during the regular season.
