  2022 PRESEASON BUCK BUCHANAN AWARD WATCH LIST: DB Ferlando Jordan, Southeastern Louisiana, R-Sr., 6-0, 180,...Jordan, who was named to the preseason watch list prior to the 2021 season, is looking to become the fifth Lion to earn Buchanan Award finalist honors. Former SLU standouts Robert Alford (2012, 18th-place finish), Isiah Corbett (2014, 22nd), Harlan Miller (2015, 25th) and Sione Teuhema (2017, 11th) have been candidates for the top honor.

Jordan, who was named to the Stats Perform FCS All-America preseason team as a first-team choice on Monday, is looking to close out an accomplished Southeastern career on a high note. The Atlanta native is the Southland Conference career leader with five interceptions returned for a touchdown, is one of 12 multi-time All-Americans (2019, 2020) in program history and is fourth in school history with 11 career receptions. Jordan is one of two Southland Conference representatives on the list, along with UIW graduate linebacker Kelechi Anyalabechi.   MARCH 15 SOUTHLAND SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ferlando Jordan, Southeastern Louisiana, Junior, Cornerback, Atlanta, Ga.,...The junior corner blocked a 22-yard Eddie Godina attempt on the final play of the first half to keep the Lions within seven going into the break. With the score knotted at 24-24 on NSU's final drive, Jordan blocked Godina's 40-yard potential game-winner and set up SLU's game-winning drive. Honorable Mention: Bailey Giffen, Lamar; Craig Walker, Nicholls. Southland weekly award winners are nominated and voted upon by each school's sports information director.   MARCH 8 SOUTHLAND DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ferlando Jordan, Southeastern Louisiana, Junior, Cornerback, Atlanta, Ga.,...With the game knotted at 3-3 in the opening period, Jordan picked off Cody Orgeron at the Lions' 10-yard line to halt the scoring drive. In the final quarter, Jordan forced Orgeron to cough up the ball just four yards from a potential go-ahead touchdown with just over two minutes to play.
