  06/10/20 - QB Grant LoyrSr/2022, Auburn, 6-4, 226 (DS#999 QB) + More +

Auburn has added another veteran presence to its quarterback room for the 2020 season. Former Bowling Green quarterback Grant Loy, a graduate transfer, announced Wednesday afternoon that he will be finishing his career at Auburn. Loy, a redshirt junior last season, will have one year of eligibility remaining. Loy appeared in 12 games at Bowling Green last season while making seven starts. The 6-foot-5, 233-pounder completed 56.4 percent (115-of-204) of his passes for 1,137 yards, six touchdowns and 11 interceptions but was also effective with his legs, rushing for 427 yards and four touchdowns on 100 carries. He finished the year as BGSU's third-leading rusher and tied for the team lead in rushing scores. Last season represented Loy's most significant action at Bowling Green after starting his career as a walk-on. He redshirted in 2016, appeared in six games as a backup in 2017 and then played in 11 games with one start in 2018. - Birmingham News

  11/02/19 - QB Grant LoyrSr/2022, Auburn, 6-4, 226 (DS#999 QB) + More +

Grant Loy threw for one touchdown and ran for another and the defense was dominant as Bowling Green defeated winless Akron 35-6 on Saturday. After the Zips kicked field goals on two of their first three possessions for a 6-0 lead they only picked up 40 yards the rest of the way, finishing with 100 yards of total offense. Andrew Clair's 2-yard run capped a 72-yard drive that put the Falcons (3-6, 2/3 Mid-American Conference) up 7-6 late in the first quarter. In the second, Loy flipped a 2-yard TD pass to Quinton Morris and then scored on a 6-yard run. Those two drives covered just 28 yards after Davin Wilson and Karl Brooks picked off Kato Nelson passes. Bryson Denley had three rushes for six yards and a touchdown following a Melvin Jackson sack and David Konowalski's fumble recovery at the Akron 6-yard line in the third quarter. Clair closed out the scoring with his second touchdown, a 4-yard run in the fourth quarter. Akron (0-9, 0-5) has lost 14 straight games. - Bowling Green/AP College Football

  10/14/19 - QB Grant LoyrSr/2022, Auburn, 6-4, 226 (DS#999 QB) + More +

OCT 14/WEEK 7 MAC EAST DIVISION OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Bowling Green QB Grant Loy,...Bowling Green junior quarterback Grant Loy (New Washington, Ohio) accounted for 322 yards of total offense and two touchdowns in leading the Falcons to a 20-7 win over Toledo on Saturday afternoon. Loy made his second career start and led Bowling Green to its first win over Toledo since 2009. Loy completed 14-of-21 passes for 185 yards and one touchdown and added 19 carries for 137 yards and one touchdown.

His 137 yards rushing marked the most rushing yards by a Bowling Green quarterback since Josh Harris ran for 138 yards in a 2002 win at Central Michigan. On Bowling Green's first play from scrimmage, Loy ran the ball on a power rush for a 56-yard gain. The run is the longest from a Falcon quarterback since Matt Johnson registered a 56-yard rush in a MAC-East clinching win at Buffalo in 2013. - MAC Football

  10/12/19 - QB Grant LoyrSr/2022, Auburn, 6-4, 226 (DS#999 QB) + More +

Grant Loy passed for one touchdown and ran for another, Nate Needham kicked two short field goals and Bowling Green upended Toledo 20-7 on Saturday, ending the Rockets' four-game win streak. The Falcons (2-4, 1-1 Mid-American Conference) grabbed a 10-0 lead in the first quarter and never let Toledo (4-2, 1-1) get rolling. The defense forced four fumbles, recovered one, had five sacks and nine tackles for loss. The tone was set early. Loy, who rushed for 137 yards and passed for 185 more, raced 50 yards on the first play from scrimmage. Needham capped the drive with a 32-yard field goal.

Toledo's Mitchell Guadagni swiftly moved the Rockets to first-and-goal at the 4 but Brent Koback was stuffed for no gain, the Rockets lost five yards to a false start and Guadagni fumbled on the next play. The Falcons Nico Lautanen recovered at the 9 and seven plays later Loy hit Bryson Denley with a strike down the middle, and Denley wove through the secondary for a 66-yard touchdown. Guadagni was 17-for-20 for 194 yards passing with a 14-yard TD pass to Koback. Koback was held to 65 yards rushing. The Rockets hadn't lost since their Aug. 31 opener at Kentucky. The game was the 100th anniversary of the first time the teams met in October 1919. - Bowling Green/AP College Football
