  08/16/22 - WR Maurice BellrSr/2024, Colorado, 6-0, 185 (DS#999 WR) + More +

As a sixth-year senior, Maurice Bell is one of the oldest players on the Colorado football team. He is, however, fighting once again to make a name for himself in CU's talented receiver room. During a scrimmage on Saturday at Folsom Field, Bell was one of the more impressive players on offense and proved he is fully healthy from the torn Achilles' tendon that cost him the entire 2021 season. "I was pleasantly surprised," CU head coach Karl Dorrell said. "He's back to his old self and actually looks better to me than he was before his injury. I'm really proud of him for what he's come back to and what he is now and we're hoping he continues that." Bell, from Murrieta, Calif., played in only three games during his first two seasons at CU (2017-18) and caught only two passes for six yards in 2019.

In 2020, Bell earned a bigger role, finishing with 10 catches for 115 yards and a touchdown in the pandemic-shortened season. He also ranked sixth in the Pac-12 with a 21.57-yard average on kickoff returns. Bell is hoping to have an even bigger role this year as he's battled back from a devastating injury. "Usually you do lose a step or two (after an Achilles' injury), or you're not as fast as you were prior to the injury, things like that," Dorrell said. "But lately, if you do the rehab correctly and really stay up on doing everything, you can get back to close to 100% and that's where I think Maurice is. I've been very encouraged. Plus, physically he looks better. He's more developed. He's put a lot of work in the weight room, too." - Daily Camera

  07/30/21 - WR Maurice BellrSr/2024, Colorado, 6-0, 185 (DS#999 WR) + More +

Colorado's talented group of receivers has lost one of its veterans for the season. Junior Maurice Bell suffered a torn Achilles' tendon in a recent workout and will not play during the 2021 campaign. Bell caught nine passes for 89 yards and a touchdown during the five-game regular season in 2020 and added a 26-yard catch in the Alamo Bowl. He was also CU's primary kickoff returner last season, with 151 yards in seven returns (21.6-yard average). Coming into his fifth season with the Buffs out of Murrieta Valley (Calif.) High School, Bell has played in 21 career games with two starts (both in 2020). - Daily Camera

  04/13/21 - WR Maurice BellrSr/2024, Colorado, 6-0, 185 (DS#999 WR) + More +

When Maurice Bell looks back at the 2020 season, he can't help but think about missed opportunities on kickoff returns. "I should have had three (touchdowns) last year," said Bell, a junior receiver with the Colorado Buffaloes. "This year we're gonna have to go for at least five. I've got some making up to do." Now one of the veterans in the receiver room, Bell is looking for big things next season, on offense and in special teams. Last season, the 6-foot, 180-pound Bell earned the most extensive playing time of his career and, including the Valero Alamo Bowl, caught 10 passes for 115 yards and a touchdown, while also gaining 151 yards on seven kickoff returns. Bell has been a bit limited because of injury in the early going of spring drills, but offensive coordinator/receivers coach Darrin Chiaverini said the junior is aiming to be even better than last fall. "Maurice has worked really hard this offseason," Chiaverini said. "He's worked hard in the weight room, he's worked hard obviously in the offseason conditioning program. I'm excited to see him take the next step this year." - Daily Camera
