 Reggie Pearson, Oklahoma, Player News

SEPT 26 BIG 12 CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Texas Tech's Reggie Pearson set a season-high with five tackles while also recording an interception and recovering a key fumble in overtime to help Texas Tech to a come-from-behind 37-34 victory over No. 22 Texas. The defensive back intercepted Texas quarterback Hudson Card early in the second quarter, returning it 20 yards into UT territory. However, Pearson's biggest play came in overtime as he fell on a UT fumble, ending the Longhorns' possession on their first play. The Red Raiders responded with a field goal to secure their second top-25 victory this season. Texas Tech limited Texas to 154 yards of total offense in the second half en route to overcoming a 14-point deficit, its second-largest all-time in the series versus the Longhorns. - Big 12 Football

SEPT 6 BIG 12 NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK: Reggie Pearson Jr., Texas Tech, DB, Jr.,...Pearson had a memorable debut as a Red Raider with an interception, a forced fumble and eight tackles in Texas Tech's come-from-behind victory over Houston to earn Newcomer of the Week. The junior DB picked off the first of four TTU interceptions on the night as the Red Raiders share the FBS high for interceptions through the first week of the regular season. Pearson's impact was felt throughout the field, though, as he was part of a Red Raider defense that limited Houston to only 251 yards of total offense. The strong defensive performance helped the Red Raiders overcome a 21-7 halftime deficit with 31 unanswered points in the second half. It marked the first time the Red Raiders had blanked an opponent over the final 30 minutes since topping Oklahoma State in the 2018 Big 12 opener. - Big 12 Football

Reggie Pearson, a starting safety on Wisconsin's 10-win Rose Bowl team from two seasons ago, has signed a financial aid agreement with Texas Tech, according to an announcement Wednesday. Pearson left the Badgers because the team medical staff had not cleared him for any athletics activity since March 2020, his father recently told The Athletic. Reggie Pearson, a starting safety on Wisconsin's 10-win Rose Bowl team from two seasons ago, has signed a financial aid agreement to transfer to Texas Tech, the Tech athletics department announced Wednesday. Pearson was the Badgers' fourth-leading tackler in 2019 with 60 stops, as well as getting credit for 3 1/2 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and four passes defended. He was a redshirt freshman that season, starting at strong safety on a 10-4 team that lost to Oregon in the Rose Bowl. - Lubbock Avalanche Journal

Safety Reggie Pearson's time with the University of Wisconsin football team is over. Pearson entered the transfer portal Tuesday, becoming the sixth Badger to transfer this offseason. A UW official confirmed Pearson's decision. Pearson wasn't medically cleared to play in the shortened 2020 season and wasn't on the team's roster. Pearson said in a statement released Tuesday that he's been cleared by two outside professionals. - Wisconsin State Journal
