The Tribe recently added Arizona transfer Kevin Doyle, a resident of Washington, D.C., who spent three years as a Wildcat without playing. The 6-foot-4, 218-pounder graduated from Arizona in May, and has three years of eligibility remaining. Doyle left S t. John's College High School as a three-star prospect, and the top QB recruit in the D.C. metropolitan area. Doyle, primarily a pocket passer, originally committed to Michigan. - Charlottesville Daily Progress

Arizona redshirt sophomore quarterback Kevin Doyle will enter the NCAA transfer portal, he announced on Twitter Tuesday afternoon. Doyle, the 6-foot-4-inch, 217-pound Washington D.C. product, will have three years of eligibility remaining. After decommit ting from Michigan and signing with Arizona in 2018, then-head coach Kevin Sumlin's first recruiting class at the UA, Doyle played three seasons for the Wildcats, but didn't appear in any games. Despite the coaching change in December, Doyle opted to sta y with hopes of emerging as a candidate for Arizona's starting quarterback role, but quickly fell behind freshman Will Plummer, who was higher on the depth chart in 2020, and Washington State transfer Gunner Cruz during spring ball, which officially ende d on Saturday with the spring game. - Arizona Star News

Reserve quarterback Kevin Doyle, who had opted out of the 2020 season because of COVID-19 concerns, has opted back in and will be part of the Arizona Wildcats' roster after all. Doyle, a redshirt sophomore, announced Aug. 1 that he was opting out. He cit ed concerns for his health and safety stemming from the coronavirus pandemic. All Pac-12 student-athletes have that option this year. Ten days later, the Pac-12 announced it was postponing the season until January at the earliest, essentially rendering D oyle's decision moot. But the league reversed course earlier this month and plans to kick off Nov. 6. The UA is expected to open training camp late next week. This season - which is only seven games long for Pac-12 teams - will not count toward players' eligibility clocks. So if Doyle were to pursue a transfer in 2021 - a common tactic for quarterbacks seeking an opportunity to play - he'd still have three years of eligibility. - Arizona Star News

Reserve quarterback Kevin Doyle became the first player from Arizona - and among only a handful in the nation thus far - to officially opt out of the 2020 season because of safety concerns related to the coronavirus pandemic. Doyle made the announcement via Twitter on Saturday. "We are in challenging times," said the redshirt sophomore from West Chester, Pennsylvania. "I have been watching and reading about the COVID pandemic and understand that it is new for everybody. The only thing I can do is listen to professionals and watch professionals and make decisions off of that information."(If) dozens of high-profile NFL players are opting out of playing football and giving up tens of millions of dollars, there must be more risk than I can even per ceive. I love the University of Arizona, and I support my teammates and coaches. With that being said, yesterday I gave my official notice that I will be opting out of the upcoming football season. I am looking forward to getting past this pandemic and r ejoining my teammates as quickly as possible." - Arizona Star News
