Few believed it would happen, but the trend sweeping University of Miami seniors has continued with a starter who just completed his sixth season of college football. Hurricanes 6-6, 308-pound right tackle Jarrid Williams announced Saturday night he will return to UM in 2021 for his seventh year of college football instead of entering the NFL Draft - a significant victory for the Canes, who will have their entire starting offensive line back in 2021. Williams, who played with UM quarterback D'Eriq King at Houston before both transferred to Miami before the 2020 season, was initially thought to be leaning toward the draft, but he obviously thought otherwise. - Miami Herald

PLAYERS TO WATCH: Miami's starting offensive line versus UAB could include a mix of veterans and newcomers, if the Hurricanes' first depth chart materializes. Redshirt sophomore John Campbell, Jr. is slated to make the third start of his career on the line and first at left tackle, while Houston transfer Jarrid Williams was listed as the starting right tackle. He started all 13 games at right tackle for the Cougars in 2018. - Miami Football

The Miami Hurricanes have turned to the transfer portal once again, this time to bolster one of the shakiest positions on the roster. Jarrid Williams, an offensive lineman from the Houston Cougars, is transferring to Miami. The 6-foot-7, 305-pound lineman announced his decision with a Twitter post Sunday. "I have been blessed with the opportunity to be recruited by and learn from some amazing football coaches," Williams wrote, then listed out all the schools he was considering. "With that being said I have decided to finish my career and get my Master's Degree at the University of Miami."

Williams will be a redshirt senior in the fall and will be eligible to play immediately for the Hurricanes. It will be his sixth and final season of eligibility after he took a medical redshirt in 2019 because of an ankle injury. He picked Miami from a top group, which also included the Florida State Seminoles, Ole Miss Rebels, Baylor Bears and Southern California Trojans. Williams is the second offensive lineman the Hurricanes have added through the transfer portal this offseason. Last month, offensive lineman Isaiah Walker Jr. transferred from the Florida Gators to hometown Miami before ever playing a game in Gainesville. Unlike Williams, Walker will likely have to sit out the 2019 season. - Miami Herald
