Velus Jones Jr. and Alontae Taylor will represent Tennessee football at SEC Media Days on Tuesday. The Vols senior wide receiver and cornerback were announced Wednesday as UT's player representatives alongside coach Josh Huepel. SEC Football Media Days will be held at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham-Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover, Alabama. The event was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was most recently held in July 2019. Jones elected to return after his first season at UT as a graduate transfer from Southern California. Jones averaged 22.1 yards on 18 kickoff returns and also caught 22 passes for 280 yards and had three carries for 16 yards. Jones became a bigger factor in the offense later in the season. Half of his catches came in two games. He had four catches against Florida on Dec. 5 and caught seven passes against Vanderbilt on Dec. 12. - Knoxville News Sentinel

Tennessee's kickoff returner and second-leading receiver is returning for another season of college ball. Senior Velus Jones Jr. announced Monday via Twitter that he will play another season for the Vols in 2021. Jones will not count against UT's limit of 85 scholarship players, because the NCAA announced in August that players who were seniors in 2020 could return for another season without counting against a team's scholarship limit. In his first season with Tennessee as a graduate transfer from Southern California, Jones averaged 22.1 yards on 18 kickoff returns. He also caught 22 passes for 280 yards and had three carries for 16 yards. - Knoxville News Sentinel

Wide receiver Velus Jones will join Tennessee as a graduate transfer from Southern California. Jones already had said Jan. 9 on social media that he was going to play for the Volunteers. Tennessee announced Wednesday that Jones was joining its program. Because Jones has already graduated from USC, he'll be eligible to play immediately for Tennessee. "Velus is a dynamic player with the ball in his hands," Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt said in a statement. "He will immediately add veteran leadership to our team and be an impact player as both a receiver and as a return guy." Jones, who is 6 feet and 190 pounds, had 36 career receptions for 347 yards at USC. He also has 81 career kickoff returns and averages 24 yards per attempt. He had six catches for 36 yards as well as 29 kickoff returns for 704 yards this past season. He scored on a 100-yard kickoff return in a season-opening victory over Fresno State. - AP College Football
