  02/28/22 - QB Derek KylerrSr/2023, Pittsburgh, 6-0, 180 (DS#999 QB) + More +

2021 SECOND TEAM ALL-IVY LEAGUE (COACHES): Derek Kyler, Dartmouth (5th, QB - DeKalb, Ill.),...Kyler, a 6-2, 180-pound fifth-year senior from DeKalb, Illinois, led the Ivy League with a 70.7 completion percentage — the highest ever at Dartmouth and second highest in both the FCS this year and Ivy League history — and a 162.66 passing efficiency (fourth in the FCS). He threw for 1,972 yards, third in the league, while connecting on 17 touchdowns with just a single interception, easily the best ratio in the league and another school record. He ends his Dartmouth career with records for completion percentage (69.3) as well as passing efficiency (164.55), which is also the highest among any current FCS quarterback. His 42 touchdown passes rank third on the Big Green all-time list, while his 4,789 career total yards rank fifth and his 4,409 passing yards are eighth. In the 30 games that he played behind center, Dartmouth enjoyed a superb 27-3 record, going 9-1 each of those three campaigns. - Dartmouth Football

Derek Kyler threw for 193 yards and three touchdowns, Isaiah Johnson returned an interception 73 yards for another score and Dartmouth rocked previously undefeated Princeton 31-7 in the 100th meeting between the Ivy League foes on Friday night. Dartmouth (7-1, 4-1) forced three Princeton punts to open the game and scored 17 points off the changes of possession. Kyler hit a wide-open Paxton Scott with a 37-yard touchdown bomb as Dartmouth marched downfield in eight plays to score on its first series. Kyler, 16-of-19 passing, directed Big Green to a second quick score, flipping a 4-yard pass to Dale Chesson at the back of the end zone. The TD catch was Chesson's first. Connor Davis added a 33-yard field goal as Big Green built a 17-0 early lead.

Princeton put together a 14-play drive with John Volker's carry from the 1-yard line getting the Tigers on the scoreboard, 17-7, with 3:48 left in the half. After forcing a Dartmouth three-and-out, Princeton got the ball back at its own 43 and drove to the Dartmouth 10 on a final possession, but a 27-yard field goal attempt glanced off the back of a Princeton lineman's helmet, deflected and bounced off the right upright as the first half ended. Smith completed 21 of 32 passes for 171 yards but, in addition to the pick-6, was sacked six times, hurried twice and had four passes broken up. - AP College Football

Derek Kyler and Drew Estrada teamed for two late touchdowns as Dartmouth scored 15 points in the fourth quarter to rally past upset-minded Brown 29-23 on Saturday, clinching a tie for the Ivy League title. The Big Green (9-1, 8-1) entered the final period trailing 23-14 before Kyler found Estrada with a TD pass from the 9 and later a 39-yarder. Kicker Connor Davis passed to Hunter Hagdorn for a two-point conversion for the final score. Dartmouth tied for the Ivy League title -- a record 19th -- after Yale rallied to defeat Harvard in overtime.

Kyler was 19 of 23 passing for 303 yards and four touchdowns. Estrada had 14 catches for 193 yards and two scores. Hagdorn had 12 catches for 153 yards and a TD. Perry was 31 of 45 passing for 412 yards and a TD and finished with an Ivy League-record 3,678 yards of total offense. Perry surpassed the 3,553 yards set by Princeton's Chad Kanoff in 2017. - AP College Football

Derek Kyler connected with Masaki Aerts for the game's only touchdown, a 43-yarder off a tip on the final play of the game, and Dartmouth stunned Harvard 9-6 to remain unbeaten Saturday. The Big Green (7-0, 4-0 Ivy League), ranked 15th in the STATS FCS Top 25, managed only a 42-yard field goal by Connor Davis with 59 seconds left before halftime before Kyler's game-winning toss. Jake McIntyre kicked a 41-yard field goal midway through the first quarter to give the Crimson (4-3, 2-2) a 3-0 lead. McIntyre's 38-yard field goal with 9:48 left in the third quarter gave Harvard the lead until the final play.

Kyler completed 11 of 18 passes for 133 yards with an interception. Backup Jared Gerbino connected on 11 of 16 passes for 88 yards and a pick. Dartmouth managed just 52 yards on the ground on 25 carries. Devin Darrington rushed for 102 yards on 25 carries for Harvard, which finished with 134 yards on the ground. Jake Smith was 17-of-28 passing for 170 yards. The Crimson had a five-game winning streak at home snapped. Harvard coach Tim Murphy will have to wait at least one more game to tie former Yale coach Carm Cozza's record of 179 career Ivy League victories. Dartmouth has won two straight in the series after ending a 14-game losing streak to Harvard last season. Dartmouth and No. 12 Princeton (7-0, 4-0) will meet with sole possession of first place on the line next Saturday at Yankee Stadium. - AP College Football
