Kayvon Britten ran for three touchdowns, including a game-winner with 49 seconds left in the fourth quarter, and Arkansas-Pine Bluff beat Alabama State 19-14 on Thursday. Britten carried it 28 times for 160 yards for UAPB (3-8, 1-7 SWAC). His 7-yard touchdown opened the scoring in the first quarter and his 11-yarder made it 13-0 early in the second quarter. He capped a nine-play, 72-yard drive with a 14-yard TD in the closing seconds. Dematrius Davis was 18-of-30 passing for 272 yards with an interception for Alabama State (6-5, 4-4). OCT 31 WAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Victor Gabalis, R-Fr., QB, Utah Tech (Oct. 31),...Gabalis, a redshirt freshman quarterback, enjoyed a career day for Utah Tech in an action-packed 47-44 win at No. 19 Stephen F. Austin on Oct. 29. Gabalis completed 23-of-35 passes for 377 yards and five touchdowns for the Trailblazers against the Lumberjacks, with the touchdown total equaling a school record. Gabalis tossed three of his touchdowns during the second half, including a 14-yard pitch and catch with Joey Hobert for the winning score with 47 seconds remaining. - WAC Football

10/23/22 - Derrel Kelley III, Sr/2025, Tarleton + More +

Derrel Kelley III rushed for 121 yards and three touchdowns to lead Tarleton to a 24-10 victory over Division II-member Southwest Baptist on Saturday night. Kelley scored on a 2-yard run to give Tarleton (5-2) a 7-0 lead, but Asa Carter answered with a 7-yard touchdown run for Southwest Baptist to knot the score after one quarter. Adrian Guzman's 30-yard field goal on the final play of the first half gave the Texans the lead for good. Kelley added a 4-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and scored on a 10-yard run in the fourth. Logan Turner's 25-yard field goal pulled the Bearcats within 17-10 midway through the final period. Freshman Beau Allen completed 15 of 21 passes for 87 yards for the Texans, who piled up 212 yards on the ground. Ahmir Crowder had been a key piece in Washington State's rotation at the defensive tackle position during the past two seasons. But the veteran Cougar lost his spot this year. Now, he's looking for a new home. Crowder announced Tuesday through Twitter that he has entered the NCAA's transfer portal. "I'm nothing short of grateful," he tweeted. "I have made relationships here at Washington State that will last a lifetime. However, after talking with my family I have decided that it is best for me to take my opportunity elsewhere." Crowder enrolled at WSU in 2018 as a three-star recruit out of Crenshaw High in Los Angeles. He took a redshirt year as a true freshman and saw the field in two games the following season, then broke into the starting lineup as a redshirt sophomore in 2020. Crowder made three starts in WSU's four-game 2020 season. He played in all 12 games last season, starting three. The 6-foot-3, 285-pounder totaled 21 tackles, four tackles for loss, two sacks and two forced fumbles over the past two seasons. - Spokesman-Review

Wide receiver Cody Jackson, a former four-star recruit who transferred from Oklahoma in the offseason, is no longer with the program, Holgorsen confirmed. "He stepped away," Holgorsen said. OCT 17 SWAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Arkansas-Pine Bluff's Kayvon Britten rushed for 277 yards on 32 carries to go along with four rushing touchdowns during UAPB's contest against Alabama A&M. He currently leads the conference in total rushing yards (754), rushing touchdowns (12), and ranks fourth in yards per rushing attempt (6.2). OCT 10 WAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Donovan Banks, Sr. DB, Tarleton (Oct. 10),...Banks, a senior defensive back, made three tackles that included a tackle for a loss in a 42-40 win for Tarleton at Southern Utah on Oct. 8. Banks' biggest play of the contest occurred with 4:07 left in the fourth quarter, as he gathered in his third career interception and took it back 41 yards for a touchdown to give the Texans a 42-27 advantage that cemented the victory. - WAC Football

Kayvon Britten rushed for 237 yards and three touchdowns and Arkansas-Pine Bluff held on to defeat Division II Lane College 48-42 on Saturday night. The Golden Lions led throughout the second half but never by more than two scores. Jalen Macon's 31-yard touchdown pass to Raequan Prince put UAPB up 48-35 late in the third quarter. Lane closed to within 48-42 early in the fourth when Michae Huntley hit O'Joshu Bunton with a 49-yard touchdown pass. After UAPB missed a short field goal with 5:02 remaining, Huntley led the Dragons to midfield but was sacked on a fourth-down play. UAPB then drove to the 1-yard line before letting the clock run out. Skyler Perry was 16-of-27 passing for 222 yards and one touchdown for UAPB. Macon was 3-for-5 passing for 45 yards and the touchdown to Prince. Huntley completed 15 of 21 passes for 328 yards and three touchdowns for Lane. He was sacked four times. Both Bunton and Jacquez Jones went over 100 yards receiving. The game featured more than 1,000 yards total offense with UAPB outgaining Lane 521-511. - AP College Football

Former Oklahoma wide receiver Cody Jackson is heading to Houston, he announced via Instagram on Wednesday. He's coming off his freshman year with the Sooners under former coach Lincoln Riley. Jackson played in just two games with the Sooners, totaling five receptions for 45 yards in both appearances. He arrived in Norman as a four-star recruit and the No. 21 wide receiver from the Class of 2021, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average. He's joining a Houston team that went 12-2 overall and a perfect 8-0 in American Athletic Conference action in 2021. The Cougars also defeated Auburn in the Birmingham Bowl last year. - On3.com
