  10/28/20 - Sean ChambersrSr/2024, Montana State, 6-3, 225 (DS#70 RB) + More +

At a game that had nearly no fans in attendance, the University of Wyoming found its own energy in the form of Sean Chambers, even though he was unable to play the majority of the game. The redshirt sophomore quarterback and team captain was knocked out with a fibula injury just three plays into Saturday's 37-34 overtime loss at Nevada. A UW spokesperson said it is potentially a broken fibula, and UW coach Craig Bohl said the injury could ultimately be season ending. It would be the third consecutive season Chambers has seen his season end prematurely due to leg injury, as he broke his right ankle as a true freshman again Air Force, and suffered a left knee injury against the Wolf Pack in 2019 that required surgery. Chambers was carted off the field but returned to the sideline, where he sat on the bench and stood on crutches for the remainder of the night without his pads or helmet in sight.

Following his return to the bench, a group of wide receivers, including junior Gunner Gentry, embraced Chambers. He couldn't impact the game with his arm or his legs any longer, but Chambers was able to inspire his teammates just by being there. When the game went to overtime, it was Chambers, crutches and all, who came to midfield to call the coin toss. "It just really goes to show the kind of person Sean is. He's a big team first guy. He really will serve others before he serves himself," Gentry said. "And that really goes to show, the way he came out on the field even though he was still in a ton of pain and still hurting, he still came out and supported us. "He was locked in the whole game. He was vocal, he was energized. Just having that, I think, was huge. Just showing us that, no matter what, you can fight through anything." - Wyoming Tribune Eagle

  10/20/20 - Sean ChambersrSr/2024, Montana State, 6-3, 225 (DS#70 RB) + More +

Wyoming has selected its captains for the upcoming football season, which include some familiar names. Quarterback Sean Chambers, defensive end Garrett Crall, offensive lineman Keegan Cryder and linebacker Chad Muma all earned the distinction this season. UW announced its four captains Saturday. A year after being just the seventh underclassman in program history to be voted a captain, Chambers has earned the distinction for the second straight year. Chambers, a redshirt sophomore, has been the Cowboys' starting quarterback since the end of his true freshman season when healthy, going 9-2 as a starter, and his captain status may be an indication of who will take the first snap when UW opens its season at Nevada on Saturday. - Casper Star-Tribune

The Bobcats' First Team All-American linebacker, Troy Andersen, will redshirt the 2020 season due to a lower extremity injury. Andersen injured himself last season during the second half of the UC Davis game. He was originally scheduled to undergo surgery in February, but because of Covid-19, it didn't happen until early May. "I truly believe Troy is the best player in the FCS, and yes is it going to hurt for us to lose him? Yeah. Is it going to galvanize our team and put a bigger chip on our shoulder? You bet," Head Coach Jeff Choate said during a Zoom meeting with the media on Wednesday. The redshirt senior will finish his eligibility in 2021. - The Spokesman-Review

  12/07/19 - Tucker RovigrSr/2023, Montana State, 6-4, 225 (DS#999 QB) + More +

Tucker Rovig passed for 279 yards and three touchdowns in leading Montana State to a second-round FCS playoff victory over Albany 47-21. Rovig finished 24 for 30 with no interceptions. Montana State's other quarterback Travis Jonsen ran for 85 yards on six carries, including a 47-yard touchdown run. The 47 points is the most the Bobcats (10-3) have scored in their playoff history. The Great Danes got on the board right away when Jeff Undercuffler hit Juwan Green, who made a circus catch on the 35 and sprinted in for the score to complete a 58-yard scoring play just 1:08 into the game.

The Bobcats responded with 26 straight points on a variety of plays before the half. Montana State got Jonsen's 47-yard score to tie the game on its first possession, then Isaiah Ifanse blocked a punt out of the end zone for a safety. Kevin Kassis took a pass from Rovig in from 5 yards out before Ifanse scored from the 12. Montana State got a 19-yard field goal to end the half. Damien Washington came up with two first half interceptions for Montana State. The second stopped a promising Albany drive on the Montana State 13. Coy Steel electrified the fans with three punt returns for 105 yards in the half. All three were over 30 yards. - AP College Football
