In addition to excelling on the field, Alabama's football team has been excelling in the classroom. The Crimson Tide football team posted a program-record Academic Progress Rate (APR) score of 990, according to figures released by the NCAA this week that cover the four-year period from the 2015-16 through the 2018-19 school years. That score (990) is 22 points higher than the national average for FBS football teams and ranked second-best in the SEC. The football team was one of 13 Alabama programs to post APR figures above the national average in their respective sports.

The basketball team was another one of those 13 programs. Like the football team, the basketball team had an APR score of 990, which was 24 points higher than the national average for FBS basketball programs. "Our latest NCAA APR numbers show that we remain steadfast in The University of Alabama's overarching mission to provide a top-notch education while providing a strong springboard to future success," Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne said. "Our dedication to that mission is campus wide and it shows." - Birmingham News
