The New York Giants selected former Alabama safety Xavier McKinney with the No. 36 overall pick in the 2020 draft. McKinney, who was ESPN's 17th-ranked and top-available player entering the second round Friday night, is the first safety drafted. He becomes the fifth Tide player taken in the first 36 picks of the draft. He will play for the Giants, who hired former Alabama special teams assistant Joe Judge this offseason as their head coach. Judge spent three seasons (2009-11) on Nick Saban's staff in Tuscaloosa. McKinney, a former four-star prospect from Georgia, started the past two seasons at safety for Alabama. - Birmingham News
