On paper, the numbers from 2022 aren't amazing. In 13 games, OSU outside linebackers combined for 5½ sacks and 12 tackles behind the line of scrimmage. While they may not have put the opposing quarterback on the ground at the good clip, they had a big i mpact on the defensive passing numbers. Opponent's quarterbacks often threw passes a beat or two before they wanted, causing plenty of misfires and 12 interceptions. What took place in 2022 should continue to build this spring and into the 2023 season. T he Beavers return all the key outside figures from last season, and have added significant pieces.There should be opportunity this spring, as senior John McCartan and junior Ryan Franke are out with injuries. In addition, Riley Sharp will spend th e spring at tight end, to see if it's a fit. That opens the door for redshirt freshman Mathias Malaki-Donaldson and transfers Nikko Taylor and Oluwaseyi Omotosho to show where they might fare on the 2023 roster. Omotosho, a hybrid defensive end/OLB, is i nteresting. He had a breakout season in his third year at Wyoming, with 6 ½ sacks and 46 tackles. Omotosho didn't begin playing football until his high school junior year, so improvement is expected. - The Oregonian

Oregon State got a boost to its defensive front Friday when Wyoming defensive end Oluwaseyi Omotosho announced he's transferring to the Beavers' program. The 6-foot-2, 246-pound Omotosho played at Wyoming for three years. Omotosho has three years of elig ibility remaining. Omotosho had a breakout season in 2022 after playing three games in 2021.Omotosho had 46 tackles, including 7 1/2 for losses, and 6 1/2 sacks. Omotosho had sacks in five games, including three against Northern Colorado. Among sc hools to offer Omotosho were Washington State and Virginia Tech. Omotosho fills a need up front with two-year starter Simon Sandberg graduating. Omotosho, whose parents immigrated from Nigeria, didn't play football until his high school junior year in Ho uston. - The Oregonian
