Terrell Tilmon, Texas Tech, Player News

Former Oregon tight end/outside linebacker Terrell Tilmon is continuing his career with an upcoming Ducks opponent. Tilmon, who entered the transfer portal last month, transferred to Texas Tech and will reunite with former UO defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter. Oregon plays at Texas Tech on Sept. 9 in the first game on a home-and-home series.

Tilmon appeared in one game in 2022 after moving to offense from outside linebacker and he had five tackles as a true freshman in 2021. He has three years of eligibility remaining. The 6-foot-5, 221-pound Tilmon, who is from Mansfield, Texas, was a three-star prospect ranked No. 493 overall and No. 34 among edge defenders in the 2021 recruiting class. - The Oregonian

Oregon's tight end room has added depth and speed from the defense. Terrell Tilmon, who had five tackles while appearing on special teams last season, has moved from outside linebacker to tight end before the start of fall camp on Friday. "We felt like he would give us his best chance of helping our football team and being able to impact us was going to be there on the offensive side of the ball," Oregon coach Dan Lanning said. "I also think he can have a big role on special teams as well. We were in the offensive meeting (Tuesday) and (offensive coordinator Kenny) Dillingham asked the question who's our fastest tight end and all the tight ends point to Tilmon; he can run a little bit. Excited, it's still a new position for him. He's still developing there so we'll see what it looks like in fall camp."

At 6-foot-5 and 225 pounds, as of last year's roster, Tilmon has comparable height to UO's other tight ends but is 20-30 pounds lighter than the other four. Cam McCormick, Terrance Ferguson and Moliki Matavao each said Tilmon's been a good addition to the room during player-ed practices this summer. "He's been great to have in the room," McCormick said. "I think it helps; the depth in the room is huge. Being able to help everybody get rest. He's learning a lot. There's probably a million things coming at him but he's doing great." - The Oregonian
