  02/24/23 - WR Malik NabersJr/2024, LSU, 6-0, 200 (DS#2 WR) + More +

One day following his arrest in New Orleans for carrying an illegal weapon, LSU football player Malik Nabers won't face any charges, Orleans Parish Magistrate Court records indicate. Nabers, 19, was scheduled for a bond hearing Tuesday afternoon, but the state refused charges during the proceedings with the condition the defendant not get his gun returned to him. According to Louisiana law, a count for carrying an illegal weapon is categorized as a misdemeanor with a penalty up to a six-month sentence and a $500 fine. Nabers led the Tigers at the receiver position last season, posting 72 catches for 1,017 yards with three touchdowns. - Lafayette Daily Advertiser

  02/07/23 - WR Malik NabersJr/2024, LSU, 6-0, 200 (DS#2 WR) + More +

It's fair to look at the returning players and think LSU should have one of the best offenses in the Southeastern Conference next season. The Tigers brought back nine regular starters and added other playmakers to give them one of the most promising units in the league. LSU finished fourth in the SEC in scoring last season at 34.5 points per game, and the three highest-scoring teams - Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama - have to replace their quarterbacks.

Wide receiver Malik Nabers emerged as LSU's top offensive weapon in the Citrus Bowl with 163 yards receiving and one touchdown. He has strong hands in traffic, impressive body control and speed to stretch the defense downfield. As we saw in the bowl, Nabers can even throw on trick plays. After a 1,000-yard season, Kelly said "it's his opportunity now" to be the next great LSU wideout. - Baton Rouge Advocate

  01/02/23 - WR Malik NabersJr/2024, LSU, 6-0, 200 (DS#2 WR) + More +

Malik Nabers threw for a touchdown, caught one and had 163 yards receiving in No. 16 LSU's 63-7 rout of Purdue in the Citrus Bowl on Monday. LSU never trailed against the Boilermakers, recording 594 yards of offense and concluding the scoring with Quad Wilson's 99-yard interception return for a touchdown. The Tigers (10-4) finished with at least 10 wins for the first time since the 2019 season, when Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson led undefeated LSU to a national title. The Boilermakers (8-6) were led by interim coach Brian Brohm after his brother, Jeff, left at the end of the regular season to take Louisville's head coaching job. Ryan Walters, formerly the defensive coordinator at Illinois, will now take over as Purdue's coach.

Purdue had an up-and-down year, starting 1-2 before rallying to win the Big Ten West and reach the conference title game, where it lost 43-22 to Michigan. The Boilermakers were playing in their first Citrus Bowl. LSU, after a year in which it beat Alabama and reached the Southeastern Conference title game, controlled the game from the start. And nothing changed when starting quarterback Jayden Daniels was relieved by backup Garrett Nussmeier. After punting on their first drive, the Tigers scored touchdowns on seven of their next eight possessions to take a 49-0 lead. Daniels led four scoring drives, going 12 of 17 for 139 yards and a touchdown. He also had 67 yards rushing and caught the TD pass from Nabers. Nussmeier finished 11 of 15 for 173 yards and two TDs. He threw a second-half interception, but LSU was already leading 42-0 at the time and the Tigers' defense followed by forcing a three-and-out. Nabers, LSU's leading receiver this season, had season highs in yards and catches (nine), and his TD toss wasn't even his most impressive pass of the day. After running wide on a jet sweep, he threw an on-target deep ball to Kyren Lacy for a 45-yard completion that set up a touchdown in the first half. - LSU/AP College Football

  07/01/22 - WR Malik NabersJr/2024, LSU, 6-0, 200 (DS#2 WR) + More +

Five returning players most likely to put together breakout seasons in 2022: Malik Nabers, sophomore receiver,...Someone has to step up to take some pressure off Kayshon Boutte, and Nabers seems like a strong candidate to be that guy. His freshman campaign brought reason for optimism with 28 catches for 417 yards and four touchdowns. His biggest game came against Louisiana-Monroe, when he pulled in four passes for 143 yards, including a 67-yard touchdown. At 6-foot, 180 pounds, the Youngsville native should be a top target for whoever is behind center. - Baton Rouge Advocate

  11/21/21 - WR Malik NabersJr/2024, LSU, 6-0, 200 (DS#2 WR) + More +

Freshman Malik Nabers had a career-high 143 yards receiving and a touchdown as LSU defeated Louisiana-Monroe 27-14 Saturday night. Snapping a three-game losing streak, the Tigers (5-6, 2-5 SEC) continued to struggle to develop any sort of rhythm offensively, scoring only 17 points well into the third quarter against the nation's 115th-ranked scoring defense in ULM (4-7, 2-5 Sun Belt). After forcing a ULM punt on its opening possession, sophomore Max Johnson connected with Nabers on passes of 7and 48 yards on a five-play, 64 yard drive that culminated in a 3-yard touchdown run by Johnson to make it a 7-0 LSU advantage.

Up 10-0 after a 27-yard field goal by Cade York, Johnson hit Nabers on a quick slant that turned into a 67-yard scoring strike, a season long for the Tigers, to extend the lead to 17-0. Rhett Rodriguez found Boogie Knight for a 28-yard touchdown pass, cutting ULM's deficit to 17-7 just before halftime. Johnson connected with freshman Brian Thomas from 42 yards out late in the third quarter and, after Chandler Rogers found Zach Rasmussen for a 27-yard score that pulled the Warhawks to 24-14, York kicked a 50-yard field goal with 46 seconds left. After only playing two series last week against Arkansas, Johnson took every offensive snap against ULM, completing 22 of 33 passes for 319 yards and two touchdowns. - AP College Football

  09/03/21 - WR Malik NabersJr/2024, LSU, 6-0, 200 (DS#2 WR) + More +

Freshman wide receiver Malik Nabers won't play during LSU's season opener against UCLA this weekend and may miss multiple games, coach Ed Orgeron said. Nabers, who was expected to contribute after impressing throughout preseason camp, hasn't practiced this week because of a shoulder injury, according to a source. "Malik will not be able to play," Orgeron said Wednesday morning on the Southeastern Conference coaches teleconference. "I don't know if Malik will play until a couple games into the season. He's definitely going to be out for UCLA." Nabers broke out during his first preseason, drawing praise from Orgeron and fellow players in the midst of a crowded wide receiver room. The Tigers had eight other receivers vying for playing time alongside Kayshon Boutte. - Baton Rouge Advocate
