Penn State defensive end Chop Robinson has decided to declare for the 2024 NFL draft. Robinson, who made his announcement Tuesday on his social media platforms, recorded three sacks and 18 quarterback hurries this season. The 6-foot-3, 254-pound junior from Gaithersburg, Maryland, started every game. "From one dream to the next, I am excited to continue this next chapter," Robinson wrote. Robinson has been projected as a first-round pick. He doesn't plan to play in the Nittany Lions' game against Mississippi in the Peach Bowl. Robinson played his freshman season at Maryland and spent the last two years at Penn State. He was one of the leaders on a defense that ranked first in the nation in total defense and third in both rushing defense and scoring defense. - AP College Football

Penn State's defensive end room will be led by veterans Nick Tarburton and Adisa Isaac. The latter missed 2021 with an Achilles injury. The Lions also welcome two major talents to the practice field in August - five-star recruit Dani Dennis-Sutton and Maryland transfer Chop Robinson, who is in his second year at the college level. "Chop Robinson is a young man we recruited out of high school, so knew him and his family extremely well," Franklin said. "I think that helps us. We're typically a program, when it comes to the transfer portal, we would rather be in a situation of being involved with a young man that we already have a pre-existing relationship through the recruiting process out of high school. I think that's helpful." "Obviously he's got a chance to come in and make an impact," Franklin continued. "He's come in and tested extremely well, very athletic, as a guy who's all about ball, which I love. I think he's got a chance to be a high-production, low-maintenance guy, which is what we want." - Tribune Review

Former Maryland Terrapins linebacker Demeioun 'Chop' Robinson is officially a member of the Penn State Nittany Lions. On Tuesday, the team announced that they have officially acquired Robinson out of the transfer portal. The former Terrapins linebacker arrived on campus this past week and has already begun working out with the football program for the summer. Excited about joining his new team, Robinson proclaimed the decision the "best decision of my life." As a true freshman at Maryland, Robinson got to touch the field quite often. He recorded 19 total tackles, 12 solos, and two sacks for the season. The six-foot-four, 250-pound Gaithersburg, Md, native will look to make an immediate impact on Penn State's defense for the 2022 season. Before landing with the Terrapins, Robinson was already very much on Penn State's radar. Robinson considered the Nittany Lions as a finalist alongside LSU, Ohio State, Clemson, and Michigan. - On3.com

The team's top pass rusher is gone with Ebiketie heading to the NFL and the Nittany Lions did well to replace some of the 9.5 sacks he had last season. Robinson is young and talented off the edge with the upside to be a high-level player for Penn State, while Dennis-Sutton has as much potential as any player in the program. Combine their arrivals with the return of Isaac, who tore his achilles and missed the 2021 season, and Penn State should be even better at defensive end this season. - Centre Times
