  03/06/23 - QB Haaziq DanielsrSr/2023, Air Force, 6-0, 209 (DS#47 QB) + More +

Haaziq Daniels' application for a graduate school slot from the Air Force Academy was denied, an academy official confirmed, meaning the quarterback will not be able to prolong his career elsewhere as a transfer. Daniels will graduate in May and serve next year at the prep school on the grounds of the academy, where he will assist with the football team. A three-year starter and two-time bowl game MVP, Daniels entered the transfer portal this past December in hopes of playing as a grad transfer.

Former quarter Isaiah Sanders served as the trailblazer for that path, finishing his playing career with Stanford after graduating from Air Force. But the first step to that is being selected for one of the academy's competitive graduate school spots, and that's where Daniels' plan was thwarted. He will join a handful of teammates - offensive lineman Isaac Cochran and fullback Brad Roberts among them - in working out before scouts at Air Force's pro day in the middle of March. - Colorado Springs Gazette

Air Force, Army and Navy and their triple-option offenses won their games without completing a pass. Since 2000, Air Force has pulled off the feat four times, Army nine times and Navy eight times, according to Sportradar, but never all on the same day. Haaziq Daniels was 0 for 2 in Air Force's 24-12 win over Colorado State, Tyhier Tyler was 0 for 1 in Army's 34-17 win over Connecticut and Xavier Arline was 0 for 1 in Navy's 17-14 upset of Central Florida. - AP College Football

  10/01/22 - QB Haaziq DanielsrSr/2023, Air Force, 6-0, 209 (DS#47 QB) + More +

Haaziq Daniels and the Air Force ground game finally got on track late to help the Falcons hold off Navy 13-10 on Saturday. The option quarterback clinched the win for the Falcons (4-1) with an 18-yard scamper on third-and-6 in Navy territory, allowing them to run out the clock. This was soon after Matthew Dapore connected on a 22-yard field goal with 4:14 left to give Air Force the lead. Daniels had 65 yards rushing to go with 156 through the air, including a 67-yard touchdown pass to David Cormier on the third play of the game. The Falcons gained around 90 of their 200 yards rushing over the final two drives. Tai Lavatai tied the game at 10-apiece with 10:50 with a 5-yard run on third-and-goal. Lavatai drifted back to pass but when the middle opened up, he cruised into the end zone. Navy (1-3) entered as a two-touchdown underdog.

After Dapore's field goal, Navy went three-and-out. The Midshipmen finished 4-of-13 on third downs for the game. The Falcons raced out to a quick 10-0 and rode their defense to a victory in the first leg of the Commander-In-Chief's Trophy. The annual award goes to the round-robin winner between the service academies. Navy hasn't won at Air Force since an overtime win on Oct. 6, 2012. The Midshipmen missed a 33-yard field goal early in the third quarter. Brad Roberts finished with 108 yards rushing to move into second place on the program's all-time rushing list among fullbacks. He now has 2,386 career yards. Leading the fullback list is John Kershner, who had 2,726 yards from 1980-83. - Air Force/AP College Football

  09/06/22 - QB Haaziq DanielsrSr/2023, Air Force, 6-0, 209 (DS#47 QB) + More +

Haaziq Daniels put the air in Air Force on his first pass attempt of the season. The Falcons, whose triple-option offense has had a run-pass ratio of nearly 90-10 the past two seasons, scored their first touchdown in a 48-17 win over Northern Iowa on Daniels' 80-yard pass to Dane Kinamon. Air Force faced third-and-12 from its 20 when Daniels scrambled to his left and threw to Kinamon, who had his defender beat by 5 yards and caught the ball in stride. It was Air Force's longest pass since Daniels' school-record 92-yarder against Colorado State last year. - AP College Football

  09/03/22 - QB Haaziq DanielsrSr/2023, Air Force, 6-0, 209 (DS#47 QB) + More +

Haaziq Daniels completed three passes for 109 yards and carried it 12 times for 107 as Air Force opened the season with a 48-17 victory over Northern Iowa on Saturday. Daniels' first pass of the game went for an 80-yard touchdown as he scrambled and found Dane Kinamon wide open along the left sideline. It was the eighth longest pass play in program history. Kinamon also broke loose for a 71-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter.

Air Force led 27-3 at halftime. Daniels had 102 yards passing with a touchdown and 107 yards rushing, including a 12-yard touchdown. Kinamon had two rushes for 77 yards in the first half and one reception for 80 yards. Air Force gained 582 yards on 62 carries and the Falcons' defense held UNI to 405 total yards. Brad Roberts, Jalen Johnson, Kinamon and Jensen Jones each had a rushing touchdown. Roberts rushed for a team-high 114 yards, including his 71-yard touchdown.   12/28/22 - QB Haaziq DanielsrSr/2023, Air Force, 6-0, 209 (DS#47 QB) + More +

Air Force changed its strategy Tuesday for the First Responder Bowl, taking inspiration from its name and trying out its passing game. It worked. Haaziq Daniels threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more to give Air Force a 31-28 win over Louisville. Daniels completed 9 of 10 passes for a season-high 252 yards, leading a triple-option offense that came into the game averaging an FBS-best 340.8 rushing yards and the second-fewest passing yards at 82.5 per game.

The Falcons (10-3) didn't throw a pass in their final game of the regular season, a 48-14 win over UNLV, and took a streak of 94 straight rushes from scrimmage into their second possession Tuesday. "I figured we'd (pass) more then we did in the last game," Air Force coach Troy Calhoun joked. "I just think sometimes you get in games, you make adjustments." Louisville coach Scott Satterfield lamented his shorthanded secondary getting beat on man-to-man coverage. The Cardinals (6-7) were missing defensive back Kenderick Duncan (injured) and Greedy Vance, who is transferring to Florida State. "Anytime you play a team like this, they're going to take a shot," Satterfield said. "They connect - they're going to come back to it again." Senior Brandon Lewis had touchdown catches of 64 and 61 yards for the Falcons, finishing with five receptions for a career-high 172 yards. That's the most receiving yardage for an Air Force player this season and the most ever in the Falcons' 28 bowl games. - Air Force/AP College Football

  11/14/21 - QB Haaziq DanielsrSr/2023, Air Force, 6-0, 209 (DS#47 QB) + More +

Haaziq Daniels threw for two touchdowns, including a 92-yarder for the longest pass in school history, and Air Force turned back Colorado State 35-21 on Saturday night for its fifth straight win. The Falcons (7-3, 4-2 Mountain West Conference) grabbed the lead on their first possession on John Lee Eldridge III's only carry - a 16-yard TD run. Milton Bugg III picked off a Todd Centeio pass on Colorado State's ensuing drive and Brad Roberts carried seven times, scoring on a 6-yard run for a 14-0 lead and accounting for 40 of the 42 yards on the drive. After Centeio scored on a 15-yard run to get the Rams within 14-7 with 59 seconds left in the first quarter, Daniels needed just one play - the school-record scoring strike to Brandon Lewis - for a 21-7 lead.

David Bailey's 1-yard TD run was the only scoring in the third quarter and left CSU trailing 21-14. Daniels gave Air Force a two-possession lead with a 20-yard TD pass to Dane Kinamon midway through the third quarter before the Rams answered with Bailey's 14-yard TD run to make it 28-21. Roberts' 4-yard TD run with 7 seconds left in the quarter capped the scoring. Daniels completed 4 of 11 passes for 121 yards with one interception for the Falcons. It was the first time the junior two-year starter had two TD passes in the same game. He had three scoring strikes coming into the game. Roberts ran for 151 yards on 32 carries. DeAndre Hughes rushed for 107 of the Falcons' 386 yards on the ground - carrying just eight times. Centeio completed 13 of 22 passes for 173 yards with two picks for the Rams (3-7, 2-4). - Air Force/AP College Football

Air Force's Haaziq Daniels didn't just break the longest run of the weekend when he went 94 yards for a touchdown against Florida Atlantic. It was the longest by a Football Bowl Subdivision quarterback in 18 years. Daniels' big run was the second of his two touchdowns in a 31-7 win and the longest in program history, breaking the 50-year-old record of 88 yards by Joel Carlson against Army. The last quarterback to run so far was Rice's Kyle Herm, who went 95 yards against Nevada in 2003. - AP College Football

The Falcons' ground game was at its best. Air Force rushed for 309 yards in the first half and finished with 446.   Haazig Daniels ran for three touchdowns and Air Force beat Lafayette 35-14 on Saturday. Daniels' third TD run, a 19-yarder with just over six minutes left, gave the Falcons their first score of the second half and ensured their 15th straight season-opening victory and their 25th win without a loss against FCS opponents. Daniels and Micah Davis ran for two touchdowns apiece in the first half when the Falcons outrushed the Leopards 199-27. But Lafayette's defense toughened in the second half and the Leopards got within 28-14 midway through the third quarter on Selwyn Simpson's 3-yard run.

Davis gave the Falcons a comfortable cushion with his third score and Corvan Taylor followed with an Air Force interception. Brad Roberts had 25 carries for 111 yards and Davis added 101 on just four attempts. Daniels had 72 yards rushing and 50 passing. The Falcons outrushed Lafayette 375-43. Julius Young made nine receptions for 146 yards and a score for the Leopards. The Leopards' trip to Colorado was their farthest in 140 seasons of football. - Air Force/AP College Football

Haaziq Daniels had the longest touchdown pass of his career and one of four Air Force rushing touchdowns and the Falcons dominated Utah State 35-7 on Thursday night. Haazig hooked up with Ben Peterson for a 14-7 lead early in the second quarter. For Peterson it was also the longest reception of his career. Daniels' 37-yard rushing touchdown just 52 seconds before halftime was the backbreaker for Air Force as it capped a 99-yard drive.

Matthew Murla capped a 71-yard drive - the shortest of the night for the Falcons - with a 1-yard plunge in the third quarter and Brad Roberts bulled in from 15-yards out to cap the scoring in the fourth quarter. Kadin Remsberg's 21-yard run tied the game late in the first quarter. Andrew Peasley's 4-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Nathan put Utah State on top midway through the first quarter. Air Force (3-2, 2-2 Mountain West Conference), rushed for 334 yards and had 127 on the ground. Remsberg piled up 107 yards and Roberts had 98. Utah State (1-4, 1-4) was held to 232 yards.
