His TD total ties for 10th at SMU and is 24th nationally. After a pair this season, Gray now has three career 100-yard receiving games. Gray was one of six student-athletes added to the Biletnikoff Award Watch List on Oct. 27, and has accepted an invite to the Reese's Senior Bowl, while also earning Reese's Senior Bowl Offensive Player of the Week honors (Sept. 27), AAC Weekly honors (Sept. 27) and Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Honorable Mention honors (Sept. 28). - SMU Football

SMU will be without two of its three best receivers for the Fenway Bowl. On Thursday, a day after Reggie Roberson Jr. opted out of the bowl game, so did fellow senior Danny Gray. Both wide receivers will complete in the annual Senior Bowl before seeing what the NFL draft has in hold for them. Gray, a former Madison star who went the junior college route, had a breakout final season at SMU. In 10 games he had 49 receptions for 803 yards and nine touchdowns. He injured his ankle in the first half against UCF and missed the final two games of the regular season. Roberson has opted out of Dec. 29?s Fenway Bowl and declared for the 2022 NFL draft, the senior wide receiver announced Wednesday via Instagram. - Dallas Morning News

Gray flipped to SMU from TCU on the early signing day in December, and he appears to be shaping up to be the go-to guy on a roster looking for someone to fill the shoes of James Proche. "The guy that's kind of been the most solid player this entire fall camp has been Danny Gray," Dykes said. Danny's going to have a great year, he's just a really uniquely talented football player, works incredibly hard. "[He's] probably the fastest college football player I've ever seen." Gray is a transfer from Blinn College, and he attended Madison High School in Dallas. There's plenty of good wide receivers returning in Reggie Roberson Jr., Rashee Rice, Keke Burns, Austin Upshaw and Calvin Wiggins. - Dallas Morning News
