  08/31/22 - WR Trevor WilsonrSr/2025, Kansas, 5-10, 200 (DS#999 WR) + More +

Kansas suspended starting wide receiver Trevor Wilson indefinitely and backup Tanaka Scott for the Jayhawks' season-opener against Tennessee Tech on Monday after the pair were arrested last week near campus. Wilson was charged with suspicion of aggravated assault and use of a deadly weapon for the incident Thursday, when a Lawrence police spokesperson said a man flashed a gun at another car before driving away from the scene. Wilson was released from Douglas County Jail on $5,000 bond and is due back in court Tuesday. The same charges against Tanaka were dismissed Friday for lack of probable cause. Wilson started in seven games and appeared in all 12 for the Jayhawks last season, catching 27 passes for 364 yards and a touchdown. He had transferred from Buffalo, where he played for current Kansas coach Lance Leipold. Scott played in two games before redshirting the remainder of last season. - AP College Football

  08/29/22 - WR Trevor WilsonrSr/2025, Kansas, 5-10, 200 (DS#999 WR) + More +

Kansas football indefinitely suspended redshirt junior wide receiver Trevor Wilson on Friday, after the legal developments stemming from his and a teammate's arrests Thursday. Wilson and redshirt freshman wide receiver Tanaka Scott were arrested earlier this week on suspicion of aggravated assault and use of a deadly weapon, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. Although a determination was made that there was a lack of probable cause for Scott's case, which led to its dismissal, Wilson's case proceeded Friday.

Wilson would be released on a $5,000 own recognizance bond, following a court appearance, with another appearance set for Aug. 30 at 10 a.m. "Regarding Tanaka Scott," a Kansas Athletics spokesperson told The Topeka Capital-Journal in a statement, "we are continuing to gather more information and will update his status when appropriate." Both Wilson and Scott were poised to earn roles with the Jayhawks this season, to varying degrees. Then came their arrests, about a week before Kansas is set to open the season Sept. 2 at home against Tennessee Tech. When the two will return, if either, is unclear. Wilson is coming off a 2021 season in which he appeared in all 12 games. Through those contests, he finished tied for second in receptions with 27 and second in receiving yards with 364. He also caught a touchdown pass. - Topeka Capital Journal

  06/28/21 - WR Trevor WilsonrSr/2025, Kansas, 5-10, 200 (DS#999 WR) + More +

Among the six former Buffalo football players who transferred to Kansas this summer, following head coach Lance Leipold, two could become mainstays within the Jayhawks' offense over the course of the next few years. While Leipold also expects the KU offense to immediately benefit from the presence of former UB starting center Mike Novitsky, two younger transfers - receiver Trevor Wilson and offensive tackle Michael Ford Jr. - could potentially play at KU longer. A 5-foot-11, 190-pound wideout from Tallahassee, Fla., Wilson played his debut college season at Buffalo in 2020. Meanwhile, Ford, a 6-3, 285-pound O-lineman from Homewood, Ill., redshirted with the Bulls this past year and will play his first college game this fall.

KU added Wilson to the roster this summer as a sophomore and brought in Ford as a redshirt freshman, so Wilson could play for the Jayhawks for three seasons and Ford may be around for four seasons. Leipold has now known Wilson for more than two years, as the receiver joined Buffalo as a mid-year enrollee in the spring of 2019 before redshirting. In a recent interview with the Journal-World, Leipold described Wilson as "extremely athletic," "extremely talented" and "really developed. - Lawrence Journal World

  05/12/21 - WR Trevor WilsonrSr/2025, Kansas, 5-10, 200 (DS#999 WR) + More +

The player who would have been the top returning wide receiver for the University at Buffalo football team has entered the transfer portal. 247Sports and Rivals reported Wednesday that Trevor Wilson entered the portal. Wilson, a redshirt freshman from Tallahassee, Fla., was UB's second-leading receiver in 2020, with 319 yards and three touchdowns on 16 catches. Wilson was expected to take on a bigger role in UB's offense after the graduation of Antonio Nunn, who caught 37 passes for a team-leading 584 yards and two touchdowns last season. The two recruiting sites also reported that linebacker Rich Miller has entered the portal after two seasons at UB. Miller, who is from Detroit, primarily played on special teams as a freshman in 2019, and had 13 tackles in seven games last season. - Buffalo News
