Willie Tyler is back for one last year. The offensive lineman announced on Tuesday that he will return to Rutgers for his final season of collegiate eligibility next fall, which will mark his second campaign in Piscataway. Tyler started the first nine games, but eventually lost his job in an offensive line shuffle that moved fellow transfer J.D. DiRenzo to left tackle, put true freshman Kobe Asemoah in his place at left guard and sent Tyler to the bench as a back-up member of the rotation. - Star Ledger

Texas transfer Willie Tyler has decommitted from the Syracuse football program, he announced on Friday. Tyler, a 6-foot-7, 335-pound offensive guard, shared his news in a post on Twitter. He could not be immediately reached for comment. "I want to say thank you to Syracuse and the coaching staff for the opportunity to play there! I have decided to decommit," Tyler wrote. I want to say thank you to Syracuse and the coaching staff for the opportunity to play there! Tyler received a scholarship offer from Syracuse on Jan. 19 and almost a week later his primary recruiter, former SU offensive line coach Mike Cavanaugh, took a job at Arizona State. Despite the personnel shift, Tyler committed to the program in April due to his relationship with the Orange's new OL coach Mike Schmidt. - The Post-Standard

Willie Tyler, a redshirt sophomore offensive lineman, will transfer from Texas to play football at Syracuse University, he announced Thursday. Tyler, a 6-foot-7, 335-pound lineman, opted not to participate in the 2020 season because of the uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus pandemic. As a senior at Racine Lutheran (Wisconsin), Tyler recorded 45 tackles (23 solo), 11 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, three blocked kicks and two interceptions as a defensive lineman in 2016. He was rated three stars coming out of high school, according to 247Sports. Tyler previously told Syracuse.com he decided to transfer from Texas because he was looking for an opportunity somewhere he can make an impact. He has three years of eligibility remaining. - The Post-Standard
