Memphis posted its updated football roster for the season and several names were missing. Junior offensive lineman Devontae Dobbs, freshman running back JP Martin and sophomore wide receiver Khi Mathieu are not listed on the roster. A school athletics spokesperson declined comment and referred to coach Ryan Silverfield's next availability Wednesday to open preseason practice. Dobbs was one of several high-profile transfers who arrived after the 2020 season. He arrived from Michigan State and played in five games last season. He participated in spring practice. Dobbs was a four-star recruit coming out of high school in 2019. - Memphis Commercial Appeal

One of the reasons Memphis' offense was prolific from 2017-19 was due to great line play. But the Tigers lacked firepower in 2020 and the offensive line struggled as well. Now the line will be revamped in 2021. Gone is left tackle Obinna Eze, who started all 25 games over two seasons but has transferred to TCU. Who replaces him will be critical with the Tigers in the middle of a quarterback competition. That's where Devontae Dobbs comes in. The Michigan State sophomore transfer saw some reps at tackle in spring practice and is the leader to replace Eze, one of the highest-rated recruits in program history. The 6-foot-4, 295-pound Dobbs didn't play in 2020 after playing four games, with one start, in 2019. - Memphis Commercial Appeal

Devontae Dobbs, a former five-star offensive lineman from Belleville and Michigan State, announced on Monday he was transferring to Memphis. He will be joined on the Tigers by cornerback Julian Barnett, another former Belleville and MSU player who announced he was headed to Memphis. Dobbs, the No. 1 player on the Detroit News Blue Chip list in 2019, put his name in the transfer portal on Friday. - Detroit News

The top-rated recruit in Michigan State football's 2019 signing class is planning a move to another program. Offensive lineman Devontae Dobbs, a former four-star prospect from Belleville, has entered the NCAA transfer portal, the Free Press has learned. The 6-foot-5, 305-pounder played in four games as a true freshman in 2019, allowing him to take a redshirt, but he also started at left tackle against Rutgers. He was not in uniform for a game at all this season. Offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic on Dec. 1 said Dobbs, along with senior offensive lineman Luke Campbell, were hurt but alluded to performance issues.

"Those guys are trying to work through some injuries and work through just getting improvement," Kapilovic said. "I don't know if we'll see them this year. But hopefully, if we don't see them this year, that we'll definitely see some improvements and see them next year." Dobbs' high school teammate and classmate, Julian Barnett, preceded Dobbs out of MSU and into the portal on Dec. 10. And with linebacker Luke Fulton also opting to leave, the Spartans' top three recruits from Mark Dantonio's 2019 class all have entered the portal during Tucker's first year. Dobbs is the sixth MSU player to enter the transfer portal since Nov. 16. Entering the portal does not necessarily mean a player is leaving, however. - Lansing State Journal
