Kimani Vidal ran for 208 yards and four touchdowns and Troy beat Arkansas State 48-19 on Saturday to advance to the Sun Belt Conference championship game. Troy's ninth straight win gave them a tie for the West Division title with South Alabama but with t he Trojans' victory over the Jaguars in October, Troy will host Coastal Carolina. Vidal put Troy (10-2, 7-1) up 20-19 to start the fourth quarter on a 7-yard run that was set up by Gunnar Watson's 56-yard pass to RaJae' Johnson over the middle.On the Red Wolves' ensuing possession, Reddy Steward snagged his first of his two interceptions and raced for a 67-yard score and a 27-19 lead. Vidal added 12-and 39-yard scores and the Trojans went on to put up 34 points in the final quarter. Vidal went ov er 200 yards for the second straight game and eclipsed 1,000 yards for the season. Watson threw for 141 yards with a TD and an interception. Johnson had three catches for 101 yards. Troy outgained Arkansas State 409-259, 268 of Troy's yards on the ground . James Blackman was 20-of-35 passing for 220 yards and scored on a 30-yard scramble. Kimani Vidal rushed for a career-high 242 yards, Antonio Showers returned a fumble 13 yards for a touchdown, and Troy defeated Louisiana-Monroe 34-16 on Saturday. Vidal's fourth career 100-yard game included two touchdown runs of five yards. The first ga ve the Trojans a 27-3 lead early in the third quarter. Warhawks quarterback Chandler Rogers ran for two touchdowns and passed for 145 yards. UL Monroe (4-7, 3-4 Sun Belt Conference) managed only 228 yards on offense. Troy (9-2, 6-1) is tied with South Al abama for first place in the West Division. Kimani Vidal ran 21 times for 117 yards - including a 22-yard touchdown run with 5 seconds to play - and Troy scored the final 23 points to beat Louisiana-Lafayette 23-17 Saturday night to win its sixth consecutive game. Brooks Buce kicked a 37-yard fiel d goal with 2:41 left that made it 17-all and the Troy (7-2, 6-1 Sun Belt Conference) defense forced the Ragin' Cajuns to go three-and-out on their ensuing possession. Vidal's TD run capped an eight-play, 68-yard drive and gave the Trojans their first le ad of the game. Ben Wooldridge scored on a 10-yard run that gave Louisiana (4-5, 2-4) a 17-0 lead with 8:36 left in the third quarter but the Trojans responded with a 20-play, 75-yard drive that culminated when Gunnar Watson threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Michael Vice on the play of the period to make it 17-7 going into the fourth. Kimani Vidal had 79 yards rushing and a touchdown on 17 carries, DK Billingsley scored on a 1-yard run and Troy beat Southern Miss 27-10 Saturday night. Markeis Colvin picked off a pass and returned it 44 yards to the Southern Miss 27 and six plays later Billingsley's touchdown with 3:52 remaining in the first half gave Troy a 10-7 lead. A defensive pass interference penalty on a third-and-9, a 29-yard gain on a run by Vidal and a 30-yard pass from Jarret Doege to Tez Johnson to the 10 set up Vidal's to uchdown that capped the opening drive of the second half and gave the Trojans (4-2, 2-1 Sun Belt Conference) a 10-point lead. Camron Harrell intercepted a pass from Doege near midfield and returned it to the 13 before, on the next play, Zach Wilcke threw a touchdown pass to Jason Brownlee that gave Southern Miss (2-3, 0-1) a 7-3 lead with 14:34 left in the second quarter. Kimani Vidal ran for 162 yards and two touchdowns, Keyshawn Swanson had a fourth-quarter interception return for a touchdown, and Troy beat Texas State 31-28 on Saturday. Swanson caught Brady McBride's overthrown pass at the Bobcats 32, ran along the lef t sideline and broke one tackle before crossing the goal line to cap the scoring with 8:18 remaining. McBride threw his third interception on the next series. Troy (4-3, 2-1 Sun Belt Conference) then ran out the final 6:26. Vidal broke loose for a 45-yar d touchdown run in the first quarter and had a 1-yard TD run in the third. Gunnar Watson was 22-of-29 passing for 182 yards for the Trojans. Kimai Vidal found a narrow seam on the right side to fight his way into the end zone from the 8, capping a 21-point second-half rally as Troy defeated Southern Mississippi 21-9 Saturday night. Taylor Powell threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Jabre Barber as Troy (3-0) took its first drive after halftime for 75 yards and the lead, 7-3. By the end of the third quarter, the score was 14-3 after Powell found Deyunkrea Lewis from 16 yards out.The Trojans outgained Southern Miss 304-156 in total offense , holding the Golden Eagles (1-2) to minus-1 yards rushing. Southern Miss' Frank Gore, Jr., who averaged 121.5 yards rushing per game, was held to 31 on 15 carries. Ty Keyes posted minus-45 after nine sacks for a loss of 70 yards. Troy has held seven of its last nine opponents to fewer than 21 points. Troy freshman running back Kimani Vidal has been named to the Doak Walker Award Watch List for the 2021 season, the PwC SMU Athletic Forum announced on Wednesday. The award is given annually to the nation's top running back. Vidal finished the 2020 footb all season with 516 rushing yards on 101 carries. He averaged over five yards per carry during the 2020 season. Vidal forced .30 missed tackles last season, good enough for fourth nationally. He became Troy's first true freshman to rush for over 100 yard s in back-to-back games. He rushed for 106 yards on 12 carries against Texas State and a season high 143 yards against Eastern Kentucky.
