ESPN TOP 100 PRESEASON 2022 CFB PLAYERS (Selected Aug. 17): No. 94. Deshawn Pace, LB, Cincinnati, Junior. Notable 2021 stats: 95 tackles (45 solo), 4 INT. Last year's ranking: NR. At 6-2, 215 pounds, the junior combines all the best aspects of both a nic kel back and outside linebacker. He made 14 run stops at or behind the line, and when he dropped into coverage, he picked off four passes and allowed just six completions for 45 yards. - ESPN.com

2022 PRESEASON CHUCK BEDNARIK AWARD WATCH LIST: Deshawn Pace, Cincinnati, Junior LB,...University of Cincinnati junior linebacker Deshawn Pace earned a spot on the Bednarik Award Watch List, given annually to the nation's top defensive player. The Colera in High School product also earned a spot on the Nagurski and Butkus Award honor rolls this summer. Pace did nearly everything for the Bearcats' No. 10 defense last fall, finishing sixth in the AAC with 94 tackles (nine for loss) and a team-high four int erceptions. Two of those picks went for 39- and 27-yard returns against Indiana and Notre Dame, respectively, in consecutive games into the red zone. He had others against UCF and South Florida, while blocking a field goal at Navy that set up a 52-yard r eturn and Alex Bales kick as time expired in the half. Pace finished with nine stops against No. 1 Alabama in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl. - Cincinnati Football

2022 PRESEASON BRONKO NAGURSKI TROPHY WATCHLIST: LB Deshawn Pace, Cincinnati,...University of Cincinnati linebackers, and brothers, Deshawn and Ivan Pace have each claimed a spot on the preseason Nagurski Award Watch List, presented annually to the natio n's top overall defensive player. The pair also earned preseason Butkus Award recognition last week for being two of the top linebackers heading into 2022. Each played at Colerain High School. Deshawn played in eight games as a freshman reserve in 2020 b efore breaking out in 2021. Ivan played his first three years at Miami (Ohio) before transferring to UC following an elite campaign for the RedHawks last fall. - Cincinnati Football
