 Elijah Canion, Transfer, Player News

  08/09/22 - WR Elijah CanionrSr/2025, Transfer, 6-3, 220 (DS#999 WR) + More +

Get used to the name Elijah Canion. At least for now. He's a transfer receiver from Auburn that missed spring practice due to an injury. In the first two practices, Canion - who's listed at 6-foot-4 but plays much bigger - has produced several big plays. He made a catch Wednesday in traffic near the sideline and kept both feet in. Impressive. And he kept making plays throughout the two-hour session. "He's a big kid," quarterback Austin Burton said. "He's got good, jumping athletic ability. Pretty interested to see how we use him. Just looking at him, he looks like an athletic freak out there." Granted, it's just two days and the pads aren't even on yet. Let's tap the breaks a little bit. But Canion has left an early impression. Maybe the Florida native puts himself in the rotation throughout the season or maybe he fades away. We'll see. - Indianapolis Star/News

  12/20/21 - WR Elijah CanionrSr/2025, Transfer, 6-3, 220 (DS#999 WR) + More +

Elijah Canion has found his next school. The former Auburn wide receiver announced on Wednesday that he has committed to Purdue. Canion's decision comes a little more than two weeks after he entered the transfer portal along with two other Tigers, Shaun Shivers and Caleb Johnson. Shivers committed to Indiana over the weekend, while Johnson's transfer destination has yet to be determined. A 6-foot-4 wideout out of Chaminade-Madonna Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Canion first signed with Auburn as a three-star prospect in the 2020 class. He appeared in just two games as a true freshman that season but had what many believed to be a breakout in the Citrus Bowl against Northwestern, when he had three catches for 80 yards and his first career touchdown. - AL.com
