  Sophomore Carson Camp threw for a career-high 355 yards and three touchdowns and ran 75 yards for a score to power South Dakota to a 38-21 victory over Cal Poly on Saturday. Camp opened the scoring for South Dakota (1-2) with his long touchdown run. He followed with 40-and 46-yard scoring strikes to Wesley Eliodor and freshman Shomari Lawrence, respectively, as the Coyotes scored on their first three possessions to lead 21-7 after one quarter. Camp hooked up with freshman Jack Martens 51 seconds into the fourth quarter for a 70-yard score to push South Dakota's lead to 28-7. Travis Theis added a 19-yard touchdown run. Camp completed 18 of 21 passes. Spencer Brasch threw for 362 yards on 24-of-42 passing with three touchdowns and one interception for Cal Poly (1-2). Zedakiah Centers and Chris Coleman both finished with 107 yards receiving and a touchdown for the Mustangs.   Carson Camp connected with Jeremiah Webb on a 57-yard Hail Mary as time expired to help South Dakota beat South Dakota State 23-30 on Saturday. Camp eluded pressure from South Dakota State's three-man pass rush, and heaved it to about the 4-yard line where it was tipped several times. Webb outjumped teammate Caleb Vander Esch at the 1 and took a step into the end zone. Webb and his teammates rushed to the other side of the end zone in celebration. South Dakota (7-3, 5-2) won its second straight game against SDSU in the 115th edition of the series dating to 1889. Before the 2019 season, the teams did not meet last spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic, South Dakota had not beaten SDSU since 2000. Camp was 19-of-27 passing for 288 yards with two touchdowns and an interception for South Dakota. Nate Thomas rushed for 90 yards and a score. Chris Oladokun was intercepted twice for South Dakota State (7-3, 4-3). Pierre Strong Jr. carried it 28 times for 103 yards and a score. - AP College Football

  Carson Camp threw two touchdown passes, Travis Theis had 29 carries for 113 yards and a score, and South Dakota beat Northern Iowa 34-21 on Saturday in battle between two of the top programs in the FCS. Camp was 16-of-20 passing for 153 yards with no interceptions. Nate Thomas, who finished with 14 carries for 59 yards, scored on a 2-yard run to give South Dakota (5-2, 3-1 Missouri Valley Conference) a 33-12 lead late in the third quarter.

A muffed punt by Northern Iowa (3-3, 1-2) - ranked No. 17 in the FCS coaches poll - deep in its own territory gave the Coyotes the ball at the 13 and three plays later Camp threw a 5-yard TD pass to Carter Bell to open the scoring with 1:11 left in the first quarter. After an interception by Daraun McKinney on the next play from scrimmage, Theis capped a five-play, 20-yard drive with a 4-yard TD run on the final play of the period. Theo Day completed 25 of 35 passes for 303 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions, and Victor McShane bounced off multiple defenders on a 62-yard scoring run, for Northern Iowa.   Carson Camp threw two touchdown passes and Mason Lorber added two field goals, including a 54-yarder in the fourth quarter, as South Dakota held off North Dakota 20-13 in a Missouri Valley Conference showdown Saturday afternoon. Camp fired seven yards to Caleb Vander Esch and Lorber converted from 37-yards out in the first quarter to put the Coyotes up 10-0. North Dakota's Tommy Schuster tossed a 14-yard scoring pass to Brock Boltmann to make it 10-7 after one quarter and neither team scored again in the first half. Camp hit Wesley Eliodor from 24-yards out to make it 17-7, but Brady Stevens kicked a 41-yard field goal to get the Fighting Hawks back within 17-10. Lorder pushed the lead back to 10 points with his 54-yard field goal and Stevens hit from 25-yards out with 5:52 left to set the final margin. Camp completed 16 of 23 passes for 179 yards for South Dakota (4-2, 2-1). Travis Theis carried 23 times for 138 yards.   Carson Camp threw three touchdown passes, all in the second quarter, South Dakota's defense allowed just 205 yards and the Coyotes defeated Indiana State 38-10 on Saturday. Camp completed 19 of 26 passes for 200 yards. His scoring throws went to Brett Samson for 1 yard, Carter Bell for 47 yards, and Samson again for 10 yards. The Coyotes (3-2, 1-1 Missouri Valley) added fourth-quarter touchdown runs of 15 yards by Travis Theis and 27 yards by Nate Thomas, who finished with 111 yards on 11 carries. Anthony Thompson completed 16 of 24 passes for 135 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions for the Sycamores (2-3, 0-2). Peterson Kerlegrand was their leading rusher with 11 carries for 24 yards. Indiana State's touchdown came on a Zach Larkin 15-yard reception from Thompson and was the only score of the third quarter, drawing the Sycamores within 24-10 before South Dakota put it away with the two touchdown runs in the final period. - AP College Football

  Carson Camp threw two touchdown passes and Michael Mansaray ran for 141 yards and two scores as South Dakota overpowered Cal Poly 48-14 in nonconference play on Saturday. Mansaray's TD runs came in the first quarter - from 13 yards out and on a 1-yard plunge - and sandwiched Camp's 54-yard scoring strike to Carter Bell as the Coyotes (2-1) took a 21-7 lead after one quarter. Two Mason Lorber field goals bookended Camp's 36-yard TD pass to Austin Goehring and a 3-yard TD run by Nate Thomas to push South Dakota's lead to 41-7 at halftime.

Cole Stenstrom's 2-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter capped the Coyotes' scoring. Camp completed 17 of 20 passes for 226 yards for USD. Thomas added 92 yards on 15 carries. Bell finished with six catches for 92 yards. The Coyotes amassed 615 yards of offense, including 353 on the ground. Kahliq Paulette was 9-of-23 passing for 112 yards and a TD for the Mustangs (1-2). Backup QB Conor Bruce completed all three of his passes for 69 yards, including a 61-yard scoring strike to Michael Briscoe with 2:40 left in the game.   Travis Theis ran for two touchdowns, Jonathan Joanis returned an interception 51 yards and South Dakota rolled to a 34-7 win over Northern Arizona on Saturday. The Coyotes (1-1) raced to a 17-0 lead in the first quarter while holding the Lumberjacks (0-2) to nine yards. Carson Camp hooked up with Brett Samso n for a 28-yard touchdown pass on the first possession and Theis capped the second drive with a 13-yard run. Theis also scored on a 1-yard plunge and Mason Lorber kicked his second field goal in the second quarter to make it 27-0. Although the Lumberjacks made the game close statistically they were no match for the quick strikes of South Dakota. The second Theis TD capped an 11-play, 84-yard drive, the only scoring possession that took more than 2 1/2 minutes.   Carson Camp threw for 221 yards and a pair of touchdowns and South Dakota's defense helped key the Coyotes in a 27-20 comeback win against Illinois State on Saturday in a Missouri Valley Conference opener for both teams. The seventh-ranked Redbirds built a 17-0 lead before South Dakota's defense triggered Illinois State's implosion. The Coyotes forced fumbles on two straight drives and came up with an interception on a third, and the offense returned the favors with a field goal and a pair of touchdowns in succession during a four-minute span to tie it at 17 before halftime.
