Jason Brooks was playing video games with a friend one day in high school when the friend, for no real reason, started calling Brooks by a different name. Queso. The name made Brooks laugh, so he added it to his Twitter handle. Soon, other friends picked up on it. Then his football coaches at Dobie High in Houston started calling him Queso, too. And it was official. Brooks had a new nickname.

Years later, he still answers to Queso. Still has cheese emojis on his Twitter handle. And in a little over a week, Queso comes to Stillwater. Brooks, a 6-foot-4, 295-pound offensive lineman, committed to the Oklahoma State football program in March, and he reports to campus on June 6 as one of three incoming players via the transfer portal. He and the others - offensive lineman Casey Collier and running back Deondre Jackson - will arrive next month looking to add depth at positions in need of extra bodies for the fall. - Daily Oklahoman
