Adrian Martinez passed for 296 yards and two touchdowns to Samori Toure and Nebraska held Buffalo to its fewest points in five years in a 28-3 win at sweltering Memorial Stadium. Martinez hooked up with Toure for a pair of 68-yard TDs and also ran nine times for 112 yards. The victory gives the Huskers momentum heading into their game at No. 4 Oklahoma next week. The Bulls of the Mid-American Conference dropped to 1-10 all-time against Big Ten opponents. - AP College Football

Nebraska coach Scott Frost didn't exactly try to diminish intrigue in Toure last week during Big Ten Media Days. "I think Samori is an immediate-impact guy," Frost said of the 6-foot-3, 190-pound graduate transfer from Montana. "He's looked great in workouts. Had a great spring ball. He's a guy who's had a lot of production, just not at Nebraska. I'm expecting him to make a big impact for us." In his Montana career, Toure had 155 receptions for 2,488 yards and 20 touchdowns, ranking in the top 12 in each of those career categories for the Grizzlies. During the spring, Cam Taylor-Britt, the standout Nebraska corner, said he saw Toure becoming a leader among the team's wide receivers. Toure will play in the slot. "He's stepping up a lot," Taylor-Britt said. "He plays with a different edge. He's a quick guy." - Lincoln Journal Star

Nebraska lost one and added one on Monday as Robinson transferred out and Samori Toure transferred in from Montana. A first-team FCS All-American, Toure racked up 1,485 yards on 87 catches in 2019 for the Grizzlies. The Huskers not only have to make up for Robinson's loss, but they have to get more production from the wide receiver group overall, too. Toure told the Journal Star he feels like he can be an all-around threat in the Big Ten. "I would just describe myself as a playmaker," Toure said. "I have good speed, I can take the top off a defense and I like to pride myself on what I do after the catch. Something I've got better at is running the intermediate routes. That was a big thing I needed to do was just polish up my intermediate routes, and I feel like I've done that. "Now I can put it all together." - Lincoln Journal Star

Toure is the second graduate transfer from the FCS level that will be jumping on board with the Huskers this month, joining Northern Iowa linebacker Chris Kolarevic. Graduate transfers don't technically sign a National Letter of Intent, but the pair, along with four-star linebacker Wynden Ho'ohuli (Mililani, Hawaii), puts Nebraska's 2021 recruiting class at 22 players total. That leaves the Huskers with three spots to use the rest of the offseason. They are still involved with at least one high school player (Omaha Westside defensive back Avante Dickerson, who is verbally committed to Minnesota). - Lincoln Journal Star

Due to ongoing concerns related to the COVID-19 global pandemic, the Big Sky Conference is postponing all competition for its fall sports to spring 2021. The conference's Presidents' Council convened Aug. 12 to affirm this recommendation from its members' athletic directors. This decision impacts all Big Sky sports that compete in the fall both for their championship season (men's and women's cross country, soccer, volleyball) and for their non-championship segment (men's and women's golf, softball, men's and women's tennis). Additionally, the Presidents' Council confirmed that non-conference contests will not be permitted in any Big Sky fall sport, including football. The Presidents' Council had decided on Aug. 6 to postpone the 2020 conference football schedule until the spring. - Big Sky Conference

Due to continuing concerns related to the COVID-19 global pandemic, the Big Sky Conference is postponing its fall 2020 football season to spring 2021. The conference's Presidents' Council convened Thursday and voted to move forward in this manner. Non-conference play for the conference's football programs is still pending further review.
