The Bellflower, Calif., native rushed for 1,014 yards, extending Boise State's streak of seasons with a 1,000-yard rusher to 12, and seven touchdowns. For the year, Holani found the end zone 10 times, also making three scoring grabs as he caught 26 passes for 206 yards. Holani posted three 100-yard performances in 2019, highlighted by a 178-yard effort with two touchdowns over just 16 carries (11.1 yards per attempt) in Nov. 23's 56-21 rout at Utah State.   Sophomore running back George Holani was named to the Doak Walker Award Preseason Watch List, the PwC SMU Athletic Forum announced Wednesday. The award honors the top collegiate running back in the country. Ten semifinalists will be announced in November, with that list pared down to three finalists later in the month. The winner of the 2020 Doak Walker Award will be announced as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show scheduled for December 10, 2020.

  2019 ALL-MOUNTAIN WEST SECOND TEAM (COACHES): RB - George Holani, Fr., Boise State,...Holani has emerged as Boise State's No. 1 back late in the season, leading the team, and all freshmen in the Mountain West, with 912 rushing yards, third-best in the conference. The rookie's production has not been limited to the ground, as Holani has also nabbed 21 passes for 166 yards and a pair of touchdowns, to add to his seven rushing scores for a total of nine on the season. Holani's nine touchdowns, and 54 points, are tied for 10th among non-kickers in the Mountain West, and lead all freshmen.   Boise State ran all over Utah State and right into another Mountain West Conference championship game. George Holani rushed for a career-high 178 yards and two touchdowns, powering the 20th-ranked Broncos to a 56-21 victory Saturday night. Jaylon Henderson threw for 187 yards and three scores in his second start as Boise State (10-1, 7-0 Mountain West) clinched a share of first place in the Mountain Division and a berth in its third consecutive conference title game.

"They knew what was at stake," Broncos coach Bryan Harsin said. "They knew the team we were playing. They knew they had to be on the road. And I think their entire preparation, mindset and focus showed up tonight." Jordan Love threw for 229 yards and a touchdown to lead the Aggies (6-5, 5-2), who lost to Boise State for the fourth straight season. "They beat us in all three phases," Utah State coach Gary Andersen said. "Our challenge is to rally back and battle back, and see what we can do to finish this season the right way." Holani averaged 11.1 yards per carry to pace a Broncos rushing attack that churned out a season-best 297 yards on the ground. They averaged 6.5 per carry. - Boise State/AP College Football
